indoor cycling trainer 20:15 [3] 1.0 km (20:15 / km)

Actually outdoors but out of rain - used Scott's bike with the power meter on it. Ave 153 Watts for 20 minutes - compared with Richie Porte who is said to able to do 360 Watts for an hour. I did get to 314 Watts for a millisecond. No speed measure on his bike.

Arvo MTB ride with Liz to the arboretum - to beat the rain forecast for Friday (and the weekend !). Still conditions and warmish in the sunny parts.

ride with Peter 1:02:26 [3] 22.38 km (2:47 / km) +353m 2:35 / km

Reduced ride today due to the wind and cold (unusual for Canberra). Peloton of 5 on roadies to the arboretum. Easily won the hill sprint so had to shout coffee. Rode back via Dairy Farmers Hill - hit 60 km/hr on the way down - bit hairy with the side winds and the bends.

Got a lift up Stromlo until the gate (top still closed to the public) and started near the water plant - was hoping to start by descending the ABC Switchbacks but realised I was a ridge away from there so had to run the road a bit before joining up with the Emu Run track - then downhill from there to home most of the way on the single tracks - hence the low average HR. Nice cruise run.

MTB 1:11:29 [3] 19.76 km (3:37 / km) +274m 3:23 / km

Recovery ride for the legs - nice spin on the smooth tracks at the arboretum - the thought of riding rough tracks after yesterday was too much. Was crusing most of the way until a fast bike rider started catching me on the fast track thru the pines near Dairy Farmers Hill and the track that heads south and downhill - so put down the metal here. Turned out it was Jenny Bourne's brother who lives in Duffy also - altho not in Duffy Heights. So had a nice chat as we rode back to our burb before I tackled col de Warragamba.

O race 1:31:09 [3] *** 7.43 km (12:16 / km) +338m 10:00 / km
spiked:15/17c

Started in the fog and cold on a new map at Tuggeranong Hill - it had heaps of rocky ground and patches of prickly bushes (where a few controls were strategically placed within!). First starter in the Hard 3 courses and may have suffered from lack of others around to keep up any solid pace. Dropped down from the track near 10 too early so was slow to that control as I contoured along the slope. Over shot 12 by about 15 metres and two contours - lucky that Martin Dent crashed thru the bushes as I was just starting to try to work out where it was. Plus a silly miss on 17 in the runnable area - was off to the right by 200 metres (I thought I took a good bearing). Winsplits will be interesting to see how much time lost - I guess about 3 minutes. Distance advertised as 5.4 km and 250 metres climb - not very close to the reality for me. Developed a blister on the heel three quarters of the way around the course - I think my foot had enough of going around slopes the same way.
