O race 48:38 [3] 5.32 km (9:08 / km) +182m 7:48 / km
ahr:141 max:163

Rare appearance at Sat O event - this time Red Hill. Went after watching replay of mens' WOC Middle Final - the terrain was not the same so that did not help much! Occasionally during the event tho I tried to run fast as the WOC runners do all the time. Only really one route choice leg on the course and I did not see it - chose to go thru the terrain rather than a part road leg - made worse by a fence being indistinct which I planned to use - ran straight thru it and as a result had to climb and additional 5 contours just before control 5 - which had an immediate 8 contour climb to control 6 in a small distance (about 150 metres) after it (an approx 25% climb). Other controls easy, especially 7. Crossed Red Hill 5 times during the course so it was suited to mountain goats. Advertised as 4.7 kms and no climb.

MTB 1:12:12 [3] 18.24 km (3:58 / km) +284m 3:40 / km
ahr:108 max:131

Peloton of 1 for the Friday ride to the arboretum (for coffee) and back. Nice weather today. Good to spin the legs after last nights effort at running training.

Run 49:10 [3] 7.79 km (6:19 / km) +175m 5:40 / km
ahr:144 max:181

Back to running training at the arboretum - mainly running a circuit as many times a possible in 30 minutes. I thought there was meant to be little climb but John somehow set it up with a weaving section that had uphill legs. Still needed headlight.

ride with Peter 1:42:16 [3] 39.96 km (2:34 / km) +402m 2:26 / km
ahr:121 max:153

Peloton of 3 on a very cold ride given we started at 9.15am in a fog. By the time we got to 38 Expresso the temp was 2.6C and the apparent temp was 0.4C. Had on 2 sets of gloves (not enough) and 2 sets of socks (just enough) and 4 layers on the chest - also wore my buff over my mouth for some of the ride. Spent quite a while inside coffee shop but even when we left it was still cold and foggy on the lake shore. Only redeeming feature was that there was virtually no wind on the ride.

Run 23:18 [3] 3.8 km (6:08 / km) +89m 5:29 / km
ahr:138 max:159

Test run on lower slopes of Narrabndah Hill. Felt better running downhill and could maintain higher pace. Residual stitch type feeling on side with sore ribs.
But ready for running again with anti inflammatories.

Strength and conditioning 15:00 [3] 1.0 km (15:00 / km)

Short exercise session post run - focus on core.

MTB 1:04:23 [3] 21.05 km (3:04 / km) +318m 2:51 / km
ahr:118 max:142

Test ride on bike paths/roads on MTB to top of Dairy Farmers Hill and back. Felt Ok altho still taking anti inflammatories.

indoor cycling trainer 45:00 [3] 1.0 km (45:00 / km) +2m 44:33 / km
ahr:103 max:130

Threw in a series of 1 minute interval type sprints during the session. Listened to a nice podcast while riding which suggested (metaphorically) that fatherhood could lead to a doubling in heart size (for the father that loves his kids and spends time with them).
12 PM

Strength and conditioning 15:00 [3] 1.0 km (15:00 / km)

Mix of exercises post riding the stationary bike
