Rogaine long 5:40:00 [4] 20.0 km (17:00 / km) +670m 14:34 / km

Nice rogaine with Liz in the Tarlo National Park a bit north of Goulburn - cool conditions - we got 970 points to win the 6 hour mixed vets - I think we got exactly 1000 points less than robw and craney! - albiet we only walked fast throughout the event - area had very little undergrowth which was much easier on the legs and I did not get any cramps - eating 3 gels in the first 3 hours may have also helped - part of the area seemed steeper on the ground than on the map and a number of the ridges were quite stony making it rough underfoot. We did steeper bits first and also changed out flight plan a couple of times when we realised how steep some areas were. Got back with 20 minutes to spare because of the way the controls were spaced apart at the end - only lost about 10-15 minutes - all at control 100 when we did some climbing and looking around the huge boulders in the area - did not go far enough along the track before cutting off - looked like there was an extra gully/creek in the area compared to the map (or we slipped into orienteering mode). After the first three controls did not see other competitors until later on the course. Nice food provided at the hash house afterwards.

Rode to Woden for a physio appointment with John W and then rode back - very pleasant ride as conditions were still and warmish. More needles and pain in lower leg/achilles area goes away but replaced by calf soreness (where the needles worked!!). Grant if you see this John Winsbury says he is running the NF50 - so you might have some competition!

Rode thru woden and garran then up onto red hill - got a bit stuck on a single/walking track on the side of red hill and had to walk the bikes up a steep hill - great views to the west then over the hill for views to the north - had a stop at the yarralumla bakery before a quick ride home. Felt good and leg getting better.

O race race 57:00 [4] 5.0 km (11:24 / km)

Ran a fairly warm OY event at West Stromlo - felt good for most of it but tired at the end and must have been a bit lactic as was confused with the finish - thought 200 was the finish so walked after this and straight past the finish punches without seeing them - realised about 30 metres past so I think I will end up with the longest finish chute time (if there had been a finish chute) - took 2 minutes 30 while liz took just over a minute and walked it for this leg! Compared splits with Liz who beat me by 2 minutes - I also lost time trying to run through too many rocky areas on a couple of legs. My foot/achilles issue continues as it was sore to walk again after the run - felt it in the last 100 metres! Have iced it and will not run on it tomorrow - back to physio on Thursday for more needles to help it if it is still sore - Liz thinks it is lasting longer before it gets sore which is a good sign - but it did 3 days at Easter before it hurt after the last day!
