Road Running (Treadmill) 20:00 [2] 2.4 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2110 (#2)

Just enough to stretch my legs out so I could stretch them afterwards.

First time using the new treadmill. It shook the whole house. Good thing it's not the usual.

Hiking 1:00:20 [0] 1.7 mi (35:29 / mi) +330ft 29:59 / mi

Hike at Scotts Run with Zitch. The Potomac was too high so we only played in Scotts Run. I wore my new GoreTex socks. My socks underneath stayed dry. I like.

Hiking 14:00 [0] 0.62 mi (22:35 / mi) +87ft 19:56 / mi

After the dog park we checked out some trails I have been curious about. I've noticed them as I ride by on the WOD but never expected much from them. Figured this was a good chance to take a gander without wasting a run.

Turned out there were more trails then I expected. Not worth making my way there just for them but if I am in the area I definitely will run around on them. Could maybe fill up a mile. Didn't walk all the trail but enough to get a feel. When we were done we walked back to the car.

shoes: Scott eRide Grip2 (#2)

Map of "warmup run". Stats in the next run.

Trail Running 3:00:13 [2] **** 19.51 mi (9:14 / mi) +2542ft 8:13 / mi
shoes: Scott eRide Grip2 (#2)

Split the run into 2 sections for mapping purposes. Trying to map out trails for my DIET with minimal overlap and without mapping any roads.

Long Slow Distance today. Low 40's. Took an easy pace and didn't push any hills early on. Felt good throughout the run. Legs were beat when I finished though. Ran out of energy at about 2.5 hours (didn't bring food) which made the end rough especially the last mile before Chain Bridge. Hadn't plan to run for quite so long but it was nice to be out for longer and map all the trails that I did. Slammed a stinger waffle and stinger chews when I got home.

Scotts felt good. Much more comfortable then the Inov8's but not nearly as much traction or as fast. The Inov8's also feel more "natural".

Trail Running 1:24:00 intensity: (26:00 @2) + (58:00 @3) *** 11.1 mi (7:34 / mi) +390ft 7:19 / mi
shoes: INOV8 Roclite 295

Did the same loop as last week but backwards. This worked better when it got darker but I started 10 min earlier and had 5 more min of daylight.

Watch wasn't working as well as last week. The loop came up .3 miles shorter. Added it back in.

40D. Warmer temps meant softer ground. Very muddy as well which made for slower going. Wore more clothes than needed.

After I finished the loop I did another 26, easy, on the wider trails that didn't need as much light. Was tempted to lap Accotink but I didn't have the time.

Commuting 49:22 [2] 16.29 mi (19.8 mph) +650ft
shoes: Answer Impact MTB

Had a doctors appointment that ran long so I rode in late. Weather was clear about 42D with a strong side/tail wind. Good conditions made for a fast ride despite a few delays.
4 PM

Commuting 1:39:09 [2] 28.35 mi (17.2 mph) +1287ft
shoes: Answer Impact MTB

Another "scenic" ride home. Went north through Alexandria to 4 mile run/WOD. Took WOD to Vienna and then went home. Temp was 42 when I started but dropped as the sun went down. 15HW at the start. Wind slowed when I got on the WOD. Toes were cold. No toe covers and thin socks. Gore tex socks and gloves arrived today.

Nice to take the old commute. Saw a guy commuting on a fixed 48-17. Not as cool as my old 52/42-16 setup though. Rode easy with him through Falls Church.

Have 2 more scenic commutes to try out
Normal commute with an out and back to Herndon on WOD
North to Eisenhower then out to Old Town and home on MVT, Custis, and WOD.

Considering riding Fairfax County Parkway to WOD in Herndon and then home.
