Ride from work. Flying pretty fast. Lots of PRs. Had to add a little to the end so it wasn't too short. Gave me the chance to stop by the pharmacy a second time. Just a bit faster than Wed on Harding and HH (this time without a pack but deeper into the ride).
Weather was nice. A slight tailwind on Blacksburg Rd.

Ride in via Prices Fork. Heavy pack. Light rain.
Checking to see if PF had corn for sale. Didn't do the usual ride via Merrimac. Shortened to make a meeting and because of the rain which wasn't bad.
I was stiff at the start but loosened up. Still took it fairly easy because of the wet roads and to rest a bit.

Ride home. Light to heavy pack. Weather cleared up nicely and not too hot or humid.
Stopped to pick up some things on my way back through town. Started out the wrong way and had to correct through downtown.
Took it easy down Cedar then felt smooth and fast on Lusters (PR). Felt pretty good on Harding but slower on Happy Hollow. But HH was another PR. Harding time was fastest in 8 years which includes of recent

Ride home. Light pack.
Fast. 2nd fastest ever (out of 300).
Didn't really start putting the hammer down until the top of the Glade/Meadowbrook hill. I had a decent pace before that but definitely could have dropped my time more (~30'?)

Long ride.
Didn't feel super strong but settled in. Temps were decent and got cloud cover for the second half.
Did the loop backwards (CCW) so I could climb the gravel on Green Valley. This was a good choice because it was fresh gravel. Still slow and rough but much better than if I was going down.
The rest of the loop I think I prefer in the other direction but the gravel climb was a big difference. The other advantage to CCW is that the steeper (shorter) climbs are more front-loaded.
