This was something new! Caumsett Park on Long Island's Gold Coast, the former 1400 acre estate of Marshall Fields III, with a gorgeous manor house I ran past. Fast, fun racing mostly on paths in a park-like setting, and partly along the North Shore. Really very enjoyable! First time racing on Long Island, and this was on a brand new map by Stefan Slutsky. Thank you!
My running felt better than expected, but still some 20% slower than Joe B, and 25% slower than Niels...
No big mistakes, only a little wobble on #4 where I went too far N and lost 30s - very sloppy as it was only 100 meters from #3! - a slight overshoot on #9 (30s), and a slightly northward aim at #13 (30s - I was following Joe B...).
Interesting route choice to #9, I didn't read the map carefully enough and thought that the path along the beach was actually on the beach...but it was on the cliff above which meant a 20m extra climb. Going SW from #8 on the path and road would have avoided that climb and so probably faster for me.
Route to #7 might have been faster by avoiding a little bit of climb by going more or less straight. But then I would not have had the great pleasure of running right past Marshall Field's magnificent English manor!

HVO Huntington training race. Nice day in the woods! Overcast with some sun, 50s. Felt a bit stronger than last weekend but still very slow running. No major mistakes, #6 searched a little early, 30s; #7 stayed too long on the path and misjudged the angle, 30s; #12 went too far right on approach, 1m.
