Optimistic: it'll set up a super-solid crust?

assuming weather holds, could I do a quickie on my own on my way out to the highway on the morning of the 26th? Jan 1 also possible.

Now to find my map holder...

Frigid weather set up the soggy snow pack from Friday. Have good cover, but has to be broken up. Working on the trails from bottom up, so far just the fields and a couple passes in the Pines. Next some runs through the glades and hillside trails. Without full grooming the trails are not safe for passage. Later in the week is most promising. Early on I can throw out controls on the easy terrain with timing and boxes midweek.

Stay tuned; let me know if you're coming.

Oops! Timer Greg stuck in Tahoe since Southwest cancelled their flights.

Oh no, bummer Greg crew isn't making it! Think the snow will last with upcoming warmup? We're still planning on Jan 1st if it'll work! (Finally re-surfacing after a bout with the flu...)

Set out 14 controls and arranged 2 courses in the 5 to 15 minute range. Good for beginners (kids) as it's flattish in the fields and on the other side of the driveway. Up the hillside is icy crust which is resisting grooming. Sunday may be warm and rainy, which will slow things down a lot. Not likely to cause immediate melt out as we have plenty of cover.

Will post status every day.

The next few days all look pretty warm.

Temps low enough for snow to freeze last night. Groomed this morning and conditions are packed spring granular. Skiing is good. No sign of sprinkles yet. Likely to be wet tonight. Added a couple controls a little higher on the hillside for advanced skiers only.

Let me know if you're coming Sunday.

Sunday morning -- continued thaw, but minimal sprinkles overnight. Trails mush now and will groom to pack down and firm up. Forecast for today mid 40's. Skiing should be okay for spring conditions.

Fun races with spring conditions: groomed trails ok and soft granular where not groomed.

Great runs on 3 courses by Ali, Alex, Chris and Jimmy Burnham. And Sylvia, too! Previous runs on Wednesday by Kenny and Samantha.

Looking at gps tracks and tracks in the snow, there were a lot of different route choices made. That’s satisfying to the course setter as it’s clear there was no obvious “right” way to go. Also plenty of junctions and trails to choose from and get confused. Would be nice to have more snow cover, but it looks like we got it in before a serious melt out.
