Adventure Race race (Caffeinated AR) 8:41:00 [5] **** 40.0 km (13:02 / km)
rhr:54 slept:0.0 weight:69kg shoes: Brookes Adrenaline ASR 6

Well where do we start? Jacko and Dolf arrived at mine and we proceded to load all of our gear into Dolf?s cool Pod Trailer and we were off to collect Liz aka Rigsy
Had a nice but uneventful drive down to Bailingup and to the ?Lodge? where Rigsy and Jacko had organised for Team Ranga on the loose to stay. It was huge Perfect for us to sort out all our stuff for the following Morning. Then it was off to Pre-register, which was a good idea as we were the first Team to do so (At least we came first in something?) Then it wasoff to find Jacko and Dolf some bread rolls for their food packs during the race?. Well lets just say that Balingup may not have a bakery.. But fook me it has a French Patisserie that doesn?t sell ?Rolls? it sells baguettes Oh oh Ohhhhh!! Much to Jacko?s horror. He then tried to explain to the French lady that was in the place what he was looking for with no success?. She didn?t understand at all! So Jacko and Dolf both bought baguettes to satisfy their hunger during the race and I recon that the French woman would have had a coronary if she knew what Jacko and Dolf put in the Baguettes for the race Chicken flavour samboy chips (Jacko) and vegemite and Peanut butter (Dolf)
I believe that one of the keys to the race was to be on the first bus to the Start of the Race as that would have given us a little better choice of paddle craft?. As it was we had a slowly deflating left floor chamber in our boat, Jacko and Rigsy had to swap their boat altogether? this made for an interesting paddle always drifting to the left and having a very awkward seating position leading to a sore lower back and sore shoulder blades about halfway into the paddle. Getting to the firs TA was great and knowing that we didn?t have to put on cold paddling gear again was even better. The rope bridge and the Kayak crossing was a different way of spreading the field a little more but cained the feet of those who chose not to wear their paddling booties (Me included) and gave the waiting Racers a little bit of a show to see who was going to be the first in the water, Both Jacko and I gave 2 fairly good Shows almost ending up in the water? I did say almost?.
The treks were how do I say OMG Steep, but the views from the tops were great
We kept seeing Wally80 and funnily enough Rowl in most of the TA?s and Danger/Boltboi now and again usually leaving the TA?s as we were arriving!
I was glad to get on the bike but when we then realised that we would be riding the Hills we had just been Trekking and that the word riding should have been taken literally more like Going for another Trek oh and take your bikes with you for added difficulty?.
Team Ranga on the loose thought it would be interesting if we didn?t use a Map for the Rogaine and just go from memory?. But by the time we got to the Rogaine our memory?s had started to fail us and we needed to find a map asap thanks to Tooms and Co for coming to the Rescue! During the Second Bike and the Last Trek the Wind was horrifically cold and I was then grateful for all the layers I had donned that morning by this time my Left ITB was giving me a fair bit of pain and the Nurofen and the Panadine Forte weren?t helping the pain but they were helping me sleep walk and taking ?Long Blinks? luckily we weren?t on the Bikes by that stage or it could have gotten Ugly!
All in all it was a great Race and we had a lot of fun bring on the next one!
Well done to all who competed and helped out good work
Special thanks to the rest of Team Ranga on the Loose Jacko, Rigsy and Dolf for a great weekend.
