Micheldever Forest Blue 7.2km

Lots of depressions, brashings, nettles and bog. Slight error out of 1, ok until 14 where I lost the plot a bit and wandered off course.

New shoes are not as protective as old Jalas and really hurt instep of rt foot on a sharp tree stump from 6-7. Quite a big lump, iced it at home, hopefully won't be a problem next week...

Note

Got bitten on both legs by Blandford Fly during Cutteslowe, rt calf in particular quite swollen. Will leave off training for a bit until it calms down, rt calf/knee already have enough swelling to deal with!

Felt a bit sluggish at the start, probably still feeling yesterday's 5k. First loop was easy but lost touch with Neville. 2nd loop small miss on control in tree canopy. 3rd loop picked up pace into Sunnymead with guy chasing me, made stupid parallelish error thinking random was orienteer at control, 30 seconds lost. Somehow still caught guy in front but he was too fast for me. Local knowledge got me to the last control first but despite my best efforts couldn't quite beat him to line. Turns out he is 19min 5k runner, did well to stay with him.

Strapped ankle and was ok, good decision to wear Swoops, felt very secure. Left hamstring a bit sore afterwards maybe ask physio to give it similar treatment to right one next week.

5k at about 10k pace.

Down river towpath and back, probably too many gates for this exercise + 1 short cut that proved impassable added ~20 seconds. Next time use canal.

Shows 50 is not yet possible but 52.5 might be.

Spilts were 5:21 (gate + detour), 5:15, 5:35 (gates), 5:16, 5:14.

Unlogged warm down walk home. Meant to be a jog but knee really doesn't like warm down jogs.

Note

Daniel managed to turn my ankle a bit today by falling on it while I was sitting on the sofa! Put an ankle bandage on it, hopefully will be fine for SEE tomorrow.

Ow! Physio session, really deep massage of rt ham using elbow! - there will be bruising. Will do a lot of good, I think.
