Blaise Castle, Blue, 8.0km
Noticed that Geoff Ellis was today's planner so I thought it would be worth letting Laura do the string course while I ran the Blue. Wasn't expecting much from myself having not run for over a week, nor run any hills to speak of for ages.
Local knowledge obviously helped but the course took us to features I'd not been to before and I found some paths new to me too. Geoff certainly made the most of the contours and gave us a lot of route choice.
Clive popped out of the bushes in front of me en route to #9 and I assumed that he'd caught me up. That gave me the incentive to keep pushing, and despite us seemingly taking different routes at every opportunity, we always seemed to reach the controls within 10 secs of each other. It was useful lesson to witness the sheer smoothness of the Hallett control flow.
Managed to finish about 10 secs in front of him, pleased that I'd not let him overtake over the final 4 controls.
Even more pleased when I learned that he had in fact started in front of me.
