Venice Park-O. Way fun.

Note

There are a few girls who have been orienteering for years at meets together, Izzy's age: Evalin B, Anna B, Elina B, Julia Z. It was wonderful to see them hanging out together at the CSU meet. (It was also wonderful to see Anna M, but I don't think she was pulled into the hanging out this time.) Isabel is somewhat introverted, and so she doesn't run over and talk to the girls whenever she sees them, usually. But my favorite story was what happened when Evalin started around the time Isabel did on one of the days. They were sometimes near each other in the woods. Isabel said that seeing how fast Evalin goes in the woods taught her something about pacing. I think that's pretty cool.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [2]

A local NEOC meet - and the entire family went! I feel as though I approach my interactions with my son very carefully these days -- until he angers me so much that I completely lose it, and yell and well it's not pretty. But I was pleased that I got him out orienteering. I told him it would be good practice for Venice. Wow, Ian was blazingly fast on orange. Nice to see Isabel 3rd overall on orange, even if she was nearly 3 times slower than Ian. I had a hard time orienteering out there. On the way to 5, got confused and was looking for 12. For example. My possibly-broken toe was a little sore. It's still black and blue.
