Headtorch run around Gledhow and Roundhay Park. Pushed a few hills, but generally just steady away.

What I am doing seems to be starting to work, as I felt good on Sat eve, so no need to kill myself just yet...

Beat quite a few that would normally have beaten me easily. Quite pleased with this, considering that I normally finish something like 15-20th at these events.

To be fair, it wasn't very technical tonight, much more a case of who could run fast whilst looking briefly at the map. There was a lot of runnings in straight lines and a lot of fast running, and for once I ran well. So a decent result.

I was about 30s behind 2nd, which irks me somewhat, as I made at least 30s, maybe a minute or so of errors:

Wrong way out of control to 7 (10s)
Wrong thicket too early 8 (10s)
Too far E of control at 9 (10s)

Wrong tree (too far E) to 23 (10s)
Slightly too far S to 24 (5s)

Total 2mins 15s.

Tbf, only 3 of these were big enough errors to worry about normally, so it is good that I can nitpick to some extent.

Also some good fast setting and running on rough bearings on the stray section, so this was pleasing. More so, since I was pretty accurate, except for 26, where I drifted slightly too far left, possibly thinking the thicket on the stream was the one I was looking for, but I turned my head and it was only 20m to my right, so not terrible.

Winner did 30.45, my time was 35.02, so even with time loss, I would still have been 32.xx, so need to also find some running speed obviously...

Did ok, but really should have won it in hindsight.

Didn't spot #15 on map B (first map) and so ended up heading back to change maps very early.

Brief pause to wait for a map A, but then sort of panicked a bit and didn't spot #7 and #4.

My route was ok, but it would have been better done in reverse and done 1-7-4, then reverse what I did and drop the isolated one to the N (#9?)

Therefore bit disappointed with this.

Legs felt v heavy though and I did cover a reasonable distance, so runningwise was actually ok-ish

North Leeds FR club run

Started off a steady one, but the pace got wound up along Queenswood Drive and kept going. Managed to hang in there through a bad spot through Headingley (good) and then also was pushed hard up the hill back up Weetwood La (also good) and I was just hanging onto the back of Alex trying very hard not to let the elastic snap - definitely got stretched towards the top of the hill and I was working very hard. Legs felt dead going up Church La, but dug in and did the best I could.

Better run this. More to come though.
