10 PM

road run (treadmill) 24:25 [2] 5.0 km (4:53 / km)

Quick barefoot run on the treadmill after a long day at work.
I think I developed a blister.

Event: Stars W.A.R.

10 AM

skate skiing race 2:45:38 [3] 12.99 km (12:45 / km) +62m 12:27 / km

I cursed Emilia my skate skis for most of this part of the race.
The hardest sections were getting to & from the start.

Kept taking them off for the bush whacking sections, as it was just too hard.

Nav was great by Animal-O & kudos to her for dealing with my miserableness.

Warning, Emilia, it was close. I was very close to selling you on ebay today, much like how I felt about Svetlana when I started mtb. Hopefully, it won't come to that. However, I suspect I will have more ebay threats to Emilia in the future.

snowshoeing race 1:29:54 [3] 7.08 km (12:42 / km) +51m 12:15 / km

Saw Tiny/Ej, Harps/partner & Dee/Aud starting the snowshoe as we were skiing out, or in my case holding my skates and trudging. Ugh. I did put them back on, but it was tough.

Got a great pep talk and smiles from Hermes who was playing around.
That helped to get me going on the snowshoes.
Not to mention the perfect timing of arriving to the transition at the same time as the pizza. Got a warm slice to go.

We knew we'd be over the 4hr time limit but went out to see how much we could do. Once you get to 2 & 3, you might as well do the whole thing.

So although we were ~30min over time we managed to finish the course.

Very satisfied with that & a door prize of wine was a great end to a trying day.

Gorgeous weather. Great snow. Fabulous course. Thanks Nick!
Best volunteers.

Note

Stuck in a strategic planning meeting all day wasn't as bad as anticipated.
Thought for the day:
"Young people need an adult in their lives that is unconditionally crazy about them to encourage them to learn and succeed."

All of us have these people in our lives. It's great to remember and thank them once in awhile if you can.

Then take it a step forward and be that adult that is unconditionally crazy about a young person to give them the support you got to be a success.
4 PM

trail running hills (snow ) 1:30:15 [3] 12.74 km (7:05 / km) +580m 5:46 / km
shoes: Salomon Speed Cross 3 (red)

Not quite the UWs hill training, but still got out after work.
12x Milkman's Lane
~3min to get up & ~2min down
6 PM

road run (snow ) 39:13 [3] 7.04 km (5:34 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speed Cross 3 (red)

Ran home from work after the hills, so legs a little spent.
But the worst thing was that the 80% of the sidewalks were still not cleaned. I couldn't believe it.

I might have to start a new activity category if this keeps up "snowbank hurdles & people dodging".

Can I also say people swing their arms way too much when they walk.
Maybe it's just the Saturday shopper walkers. Worse then trying to pass a Sunday driver on the road.

trail running (snow) 36:10 [2] 4.08 km (8:52 / km) +30m 8:33 / km
shoes: Salomon XA Pro

After watching the snow fall all day from my office on the 20th floor, I felt like I was on the wrong side of the snowglobe. Finally I got out. Woohoo!

This was tough going. It was me and a lone x-country skier in High Park & it was really silly that I didn't take my snow shoes.

Stopped to make a snow angel. First of the year.

Hilly trail run in High Park.
Didn't care about time, just wanted to make sure I got 10k in in under an hour & hit a couple of good climbs. I felt like I hit a lot of hills but the climb translation doesn't show it. Oh well.
To those that thought I was getting fast & weren't believing me when I said that is just on flat road, now here is the proof.
I am still slow as molasses.
1 PM

stretching 10:00 [1]

back was hurting all day.
I stayed home. But felt sitting and lying was making it worse, hence the run.
Interesting the back was good, expect around 8k in & mostly the upper part of butt was hurting & tight.
So stretched that out good.
Something has got to give soon.

road run 49:42 [3] 10.0 km (4:58 / km) +64m 4:49 / km

First time out with the West Toronto Pacers, a spin-off of the XSNRG Leslieville group.
Was suppose to be a 10k tempo run in the Royal York area.
Started great, but then lost the front runners, so took a guess on the route & found out later that I was right & they got lost. They had maps.
However, since I was little lost I did slow down.
Happy I made it under 50min. My first official under 50min 10k.
Now need to get that 47min 10k.
