golf 4:00:00 [1] 7.0 km (34:17 / km)

Not much of a workout but I did get some practice backing in and out of Florida bramble areas, sighting bits of white in the forest, etc.

Saturday Dec 12, 2009 #

golf 4:10:00 [1] 7.0 km (35:43 / km)

Wekiva Golf Course - riding - only a bit of exercise but I have an orienteering race in the afternoon

orienteering race 2:04:17 [5] *** 11.86 km (10:29 / km)
ahr:139 max:168 spiked:4/13c

Florida Orienteering Championships - Tough Race. Garmin track makes it pretty sure one of the controls, #3, was misplaced but other than that my navigation was pretty poor. Not much contour detail and the green areas were tough to distinguish from each other.
Pretty happy with my pace when I knew where I was going.

Thursday Dec 10, 2009 #

Running to/ from work 55:00 [3] 8.0 km (6:53 / km)
ahr:126 max:166

Running in slushy snow. Really tough on one shin.
Stopped twice to help push motorists out of snow banks.
On the way home I detoured and picked up Gatineau ski pass from Fresh Air Experience. I wonèt be using the pass until January because tomorrow . . . Florida!!

Wednesday Dec 9, 2009 #

Running to/ from work 35:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:50 / km)

Snow storm in progress. Running on the snow covered sidewalks was a bit akin to running on a soft forest floor. Nice.

Tuesday Dec 8, 2009 #

Running to/ from work 55:00 [3] 9.0 km (6:07 / km)
ahr:128 max:139

Learned forst hand today about the rapid loss of charge in the Garmin 405 batteries during cold weather.
Started out the day with a 37% charge which should have benn good for 2 1/2 hours or so. Watch went dead after 40 minutes. At least the data was saved.

Monday Dec 7, 2009 #

Running to/ from work 11:16 [2] 1.65 km (6:50 / km)
ahr:123 max:134

Running 1:05:17 [3] 9.56 km (6:50 / km)
ahr:132 max:140

Running to/ from work 30:44 [3] 4.28 km (7:11 / km)
ahr:126 max:142

It's nice to do what I guess is just utilitarian running. No hard pace, no intervals, just running to get from A to B. More like jogging as my HR is not getting too high and I'm in no hurry.
No matter how lightly I dress I'm still working up a sweat. No problem we have showers at work and of course at home.
Some would refer to these as junk miles however for me they are working as my weight hasn't started its usual pre-Christmas surge upward.
