Good sleep. 12h day in the work furnace. I brought my running stuff in case I felt like sneaking in a run. But, I decided to just make it a rest day. Hopefully, the legs will feel rad tomorrow to/from work and over the weekend. Psyched to get in some road runs and turn the legs over. I think I'm going to run a 5k in 2 weeks.

Hot and dark on the ride. Legs were decent- just easy spinning with a few sprints to make stoplights. Nice ride.

Climbed OK and didn't rest much while I was there. I think I was dehyrated from work b/c I got and stayed pumped pretty fast. Flashed a new v2, 3, and 4. Did a new v5 second go. Then, I repeated a few moderates. Finished with 3x 10 dips, 75 sec plank.

Guardsman-scott's bypass-shadow lake-jupiter pk- out and back on clayton pk trail with Seann. Legs felt OK. Had 2 mini bonks- ate 2 GUs. Awesome evening up there. Climbed the mini grunt up Jupiter Pk, and then hung out up there for about 5 minutes hitting rocks off the summit with the golf club that was up there. Seann was killing it. I felt good on the gradual climb toward Jupiter Pk. Enjoyed being up there. It feels good to have a (very) little bit of a jogging base to be able to get out in the mountains for a little bit. Glad I went up there.

Solo ride south to mouth of LCC and thru those hoods to get some climbing in my legs before heading to Mill Creek.
Rode Mill Creek at a tempo effort in 52:53 (gate 22:56, elbow fk 10:23, top 19:18). Pretty hot today, but the canyon was shady for the last half. Kinda pleased with the last 2 splits for not really going too hard.
Got down at 2:20 in, so I spun through town a bit into a hot headwind to hit 3 hours. Solid ride. I was surprised by my motivation to stay out in the heat and wind. Nice.

Slept pretty solid, except for hour b/t 4-5 when the cat was being insane. Up at 8:30. My legs (whole body?) feel a little weird from drastic change in amount and types of activity. I'm a little paranoid about getting sick with all the new germs I'm surrounded by again, which is nothing compared to what it will be like next week. Just stay healthy.

Jogged to the track to do some 400s, but it was taken apart and getting worked on. So, I continued uphill to hit 2mi in 18:30 or so. I'm so slow. The last half of the run was mostly downhill. During the 5th mile I ran 4x 60sec T/ 60sec jog with the goal of jogging low 7/ high 6min/ mi pace. The 5th mi was 8:02, my fastest since starting to jog again. I ran a little extra once I got near home to hit 10k. I'm making a little progress on each run but I'm feeling generally just worn down- need to get used to the new schedule. My legs feel like heavy cyclist's legs. My upper body feels like a heavy climber's body. Oh well. Added another brick in the wall.

Circuited a bunch moderates today. Repeated some 3s, 4s, and 5s. Energy-wise, I felt really good. Project-wise, there's nothing that's interesting to me or particularly suited to me. Good workout.

SI was a little stiff but didn't really bother me.

Up til 10 last night watching Hunger Games. Feel OK this morning. Legs aren't sore from 2k descent yesterday, which is a good sign jogging-wise.

Have work to do at home today, and then back to work tomorrow. Road ride this morning. Maybe hit the gym later today.

Up little and big mt in combined time of 71:24 (35:34,5:27,30:53). Goal was sub 75. Rode out another 2k from big mt summit before turning around. I was down 2.2lb when i got home so go pretty dehydrated.

Legs are tired from yesteday. Also faced with fact that I'm not totally recovered from lt100. I feel like I climb better on steep stuffs now as a result ore riding the ss, which is cool. In all, kind of a slog because of my garbage legs but psyched to get it done.

Easy up LIttle Mt with B. Went easy up the climb until last 1.5mi. Up in 36:58. I wonder how fast I could do it going hard. Been a while since I've done that.

I felt pretty out of it the first 30min of the ride. But, the legs came around. My nose felt a little stuffy, which I think was from the smoke. PM2.5 has been really high. Still pretty hazy out.

I just need to get back into the daily flow and get back my mind back in touch with my body. Something like that.

No plans right now, maybe a fall 5k or 10k. I think I'm going to alternate ride and run days for a bit. Kinda feeling an itch to climb outdoors.

Glenwild CCW with B. Trails were dry and chossy. We got so lucky at Leadville last weekend with the rain the night before the race.

Legs felt OK until climb up the backside. Mentally, I felt like I had to concentrate a lot. Hands and shoulders hurt a little after ~55 minutes.

It was good to ride up there and get out of the smoke, although it was even hazy up there. I'm generally still cooked from last Saturday though. Jeez.

Easy around the hood in the heat, haze, and humidity. I had a few minutes of feeling decent. Not surprisingly, my legs felt stiff.

My hrm and pace went schizo a few times, but I think my max speed was somewhere in the low 7s. Whatever. Can't complain avg'ing under 9min pace going easy.

As I was trying to look at the laps from my jog, the "enter" button stopped working on my refurbished 305 I got from Garmin a month ago. Kinda feel like complaining about that. I first had trouble with it 100mi into the race when it said "low battery, press enter." They're going to warranty it and send me another refurbished one. I'm glad it's not costing me anything, but now I'm out a bike/run computer for 2 weeks.

After a lethargic morning, so-so jog, and technical difficulties, I feel tired, cranky, and annoyed. That race worked me. Holy cow.

Unplanned rest day but had no motivation or energy to get out in the heat and smoke-polluted air after spending the morning waiting for the dishwasher delivery guy. Lazy day including a 30min nap in the afternoon. No doubt my body can use the rest. I'm not in a hurry to do too much. I think I was a little overzealous yesterday. Tomorrow is a new day.

Lights out at 8:45. Woke up at 2:30 and couldn't fall asleep for 30min or so. Up at 6:50. I'm still in search of a solid night's rest. The elevation might have something to do with it, or too many bevs. Driving home today, so I should be barely able to move by the end of the day. Feeling stiff this morning.

Uneventful drive home. Walked 1/2mi total and rode beater ss 1mi total running evening errands.

Done. I'm going to pick up my buckle and sweatshirt and never return to that town. Psyched and proud to finish, even though my time was slower than hoped for. Crazy how many people were on the course- super crowded. It puts the demons to rest from my LT100 run DNF at mile 87 in 2008.

Negative split it by about 1/2 hour. Chip time: 11:25:14. It took longer to cross the start line at LT100 than it did at the Boston Marathon.

To finish in 5:29

My moving time was 11:01. I stopped at Twin Lakes in and out to refill my camelbak, and then at the mile89 AS for some sports drink in my bottle. The crowds on St. Kevins and the singletrack sections cost me at least 10 minutes, maybe 15. 100s of riders had to deal with that though. Just glad to get it done under 12h without crashes, mechanicals, or vomiting violently.

For the rest of the day: get stuff ready, eat, drink, obsess a little, try to relax.

Fat from cinna bread we got yesterday at GH. 3 days of no bevs. I don't feel like I am sleeping any better, even though I probably am. I don't feel that much more pep in the morning either. Good to take a break regardless of the length anyway, I guess.

Good last rd ride before the race. Legs feel really good. I'm most psyched on my head though. I feel aggressive, ready to attack. I went a little hard during the first 8 miles, and then reined it in the rest of the time.
I easily spun some guy off my wheel who was huffing and out of the saddle trying to catch me on the mini climb by the porcupine.

In all, I feel ready for Saturday. I didn't really start geeking out on splits and reading race reports until the past couple days, which is a good thing. I am shooting for sub 10 hours and copied the splits of a ss guy who rode 9:50 last year. I'm planning to just keep er steady the first 60-70 miles, and then try to turn it on and keep it on at the end. I'm more curious than nervous about the 1800+ rider mass start. If nothing else, it should make the first miles (hours?) go by quickly. I hope.

Was blinded by the sun most of the way up canyon, which was disorienting. Climbed pretty well. Good ride. Just trying to get in some easy to moderate miles to get back the feel of the SS.

tried an 11b that had some weird moves, so I just topped it out using holds from other routes. I don't mind taking falls. I just don't want to get my teeth knocked out if my foot pops off a crappy hold on a slab.
Onsighted a different 5.11b, and then redpointed a 5.11a that I didn't finish last weekend.

Then, we bouldered for about 30 minutes, working on some new problems. I did a 3/4 that was pretty cool. We were at the gym for 2 hours.

Easy hike with a few hundred yards of jogging thrown in starting at Guardsman and heading west. I was considering doing Clayton Peak, but there was a group of 20+ kids heading up it. Maybe tomorrow.

I just wanted to be in the woods a little and hang out above 10000'. I sat around at 10,400 for about 20 minutes checking out the views, and then read at the car for a bit after the hike.
