Feel like crap again today, worse than yesterday. Went out w/ Mike last night. Belayed him at climbing gym for about an hour, then went out to dinner.

Annoyed to end/start the year sick and injured. Oh well. Rest and get better. Sending off my reg to Wasatch today. I'd like to race at least once/month once I'm recovered but don't want to get ahead of myself w/ sending money. Since so many races fill so quickly now, that will give me the opp to do some different races than the usual. I'm looking forward to running in some new places in '11.

leg press felt good again today. No knee pain. I think the slideboard pissed off my knee last time before doing leg press.

Good PT session, despite feeling crappy on cardio. I drank almost 2 full bottles during (had EFS in it when I got there). No bonkiness today.

Cleared to run up to a couple miles outside! I just need to get over this cold.

First time checking all 3 boxes- injured, sick, rest day. Sweet.

Chest and head congested w/ some occasional burly coughing fits. Head feels less congested today than it did last night. Take it easy today. Get better ASAP.

Knee feels good after skiing yesterday. Ice and elevate today. Rest. Hopefully, I'm getting all of my sick/ injury time over with for a long while. Sit on the couch and watch it snow.

Good time at Solitude- stayed on lake and evergreen loops for mostly flat, little bit of climbing. No knee pain, except for some aching in both knees on the drive home. After getting warmed up, I felt not totally out of shape but definitely huffing it more than I would have liked.

Fun to get out and play at elevation in the mountains. Zero falls.

Feel like I've been fighting off a cold since yesterday. As I write this (5:30p), I feel feverish and have had a few bouts of brain rattling coughs. Gonna get to bed early, then decide in the AM if I'll go to PT or not.

bailed on leg press b/c it was hurting my knee- bummed me out after leg press felt great last week. Oh well.

Felt pretty worked after PT today. Probably dehydrated and low blood sugar. Everything is going well, though, acc'ding to George. I'm just tired of being injured, had a little pity party for myself and then got back to it. I even bounced a med ball into my nose- jeez. Kind of out of it today. Getting to bed too late.

I'll stop clicking the injured box when I can run outside.

Easy outside in the cold and partly sunny-ness. Got in a few short little climbs. No knee pain at all. I just want to make sure I don't overdo it. I think I almost took out Jeff Louder in the first couple minutes of my ride as I was warming up my knee. Just kidding. But, I think it was him in the BMC kit who passed me.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get out and ride a decent amount over the next few days. Skiing appears to be out until maybe the end of next week due to not much snow at Mt. Dell. I don't want to go anywhere else, pay $15+, and then find out my knee doesn't like the movement. Blah blah blah. Decent, low intensity ride today.

Felt awesome. No knee pain at all. Plugged into the iPod and pretended I was in the woods.

Shorter than usual but great PT session. Felt good to hit it first thing in the AM. Feeling strong-ish. Cleared to skate ski, as well as run up to 20min on the treadmill (probably won't happen).

After 5min walk warm up, ran from ~8:30/mi pace up to 6:48min/ mi. Knee hurt a little but felt better at faster speed. I didn't breathe hard at all. Felt pretty awesome to run. 5min walk cool down. (20min total cardio b/t walk and run).

Dang good PT sesh tonight. Didn't rest much. Felt good to suffer a bit. Lots or core/ stability/ balance stuff, plus:
Leg Press 3X 10 @160lb (felt pretty easy finally)

*rest b/t sets= 20-30 seconds

Hamstring curl 3X 10 @65lbs (felt pretty easy).

Psyched for next session for hopefully for more running.

At PT- Super easy, watched TV. Didn't want to get too sweaty like I did on Tuesday. I also wanted to have some energy to do better on the balance and stability exercises that I flailed on on Tuesday. Kinda getting tired of the stationary bike at PT.

*I was at PT for 2 hours tonight. But, I'm just putting 30min b/c, w/out rest, that might be the total "activity time." Trying to avoid "volume inflation," which is lame.

Leg press 3X 10 @160 lbs (15sec rest) - felt pretty hard still

Single Leg Press 2X 15 @60lbs (15sec rest)- Right leg felt hard. Left felt less so. Felt good though. Fun.

Hamstring curls- 3X 10 @ 65lbs (20sec rest)- felt moderately hard

Various other core and stability stuff:
3X 60sec side plank (3 sets each side)
3X 30+ sec plank handing tennis ball back and forth

Rt leg balance on bosu ball, playing catch w/ myself (using trampoline) w/ 4lb med ball- possibly my new favorite sport

Plus some other stuff w/ a Swiss ball that's not as hard or cool

Pretty good session tonight. Felt so rad to suffer a little and leave w/ rubbery legs. I no longer have a 20min ceiling on activity duration, just need to go by how my knee feels. Activities can be for conditioning, rather than simply regaining range of motion. No impact stuff or skate skiing yet.

Weather looking grim, so probably be spending some time on the trainer this weekend.

Uninspired on the trainer after taking 1.5 hours f***ing hours to get home (usually takes 20). Traffic, bad drivers, grrr.

Knee ached a little too. Took my last Naproxen(?) on Tues PM. Not sure if not taking that anymore has anything to do w/ new feelings of achiness. Rode 1st minute w/ no shoe on rt foot, then clipped in w/ a sidi. Knee didn't seem to like being restricted that much, so I rode w/ no shoe then w/ running shoe for last 12 minutes.

Generally uninspiring w/ a bad attitude. Stretched for about a minute after but knee was aching. So, I just went to the couch to ice and elevate. PT tmw will hopefully be better. Would like to get in a ride outside this weekend, weather permitting (probably won't). Definitely not in the xmas spirit right now.

Super easy on stationary bike at PT. Not that psyched, so went easier than normal. Felt a kinda drained from first full week back at work. Knee swollen more than on Tues, so took a step back in recovery sorta. Not surprising. I wasn't able to stay off my feet as much today as yesterday. No pain though.

My knee flexibility is ahead of schedule at 125 degrees.

Knee started to hurt and swelled a little around lunch today, which bummed me out. Came home and iced and elevated. No motivation, had a little bit of a pity party for myself. Definitely getting a little over-confident with how much I'm staying on my feet at work. Ice gel pak was pretty much worthless at work, so will probably take cooler w/ ice again tmw. Stay off my feet more, maybe ride the trainer tmw- TBD.

Just need to get thru the week, so I can sleep and stay off my feet all weekend. Really hoping to be cleared (and ready) to jog a bit sometime next week. Today felt like a little setback on the recovery road. Ugh. Gonna try to get to bed before 7:30 tonight. On a positive note (that I forgot today b/c of the bit of swelling), George said yesterday that my recovery so far appears to be "best case scenario." Be the ball, Noonen.

Balance and stretch stuff at PT after OK 2nd day back at work. Kids feel no sympathy for the injured teacher. The "honeymoon" of my return is over.

Little bit harder program on the stationary bike. RPE was kinda high for how low HR was staying. That giant saddle hurts my butt too. Good to breathe a little though. Felt cooked and hungry by the end of the session (~100min total at the PT office).

Easy on the trainer. Rode w/out shoe on right foot for first 13min to warm up leg a little. Last 7min w/ shoe one (warmed up leg could handle extra lift fine). Felt good to be moving my legs. No pain. Felt a little bit of an ache after 10min, so stopped for a few seconds, started again. Didn't feel it again.

Rode in 39X25 whole time. Trainer tension wheel-thing wasn't on my back wheel tight, so very little resistance at all- just wanted to get some motion in the leg.

Didn't sleep that well. Definitely have a bad attitude today. Hopefully, I can burn off a little steam at PT today. Not sure if weight is right- said 141.4, 139.4, 143.4. Not that it matters...not on the wrestling team anymore.

Still can't really feel my knee. Haven't had to take any pain meds. Iced 20min on , 25min off pretty much ALL day yesterday. While doing towel-on-heel stretches, could hear fluid in my knee moving around- pretty gross (and disturbing).

Soldier on. One day at a time. Immobility is definitely affecting my view of the world right now, and it's not pretty. Breathe.

Stationary bike at PT w/ animated screen. Got to chase people around a park for 20 min and get kinda sweaty. Felt good to breathe a little. Cleared to ride the trainer for no longer than 20 min/ day this weekend. Also just trying to walk normally.

Ice. No pain. Got bandage off, went to PT for ice, heat, ice and ~12 min on stationary bike. After 10min of swinging back and forth, busted out ~15 full revs on the bike.

Came home and iced, elevated, iced...
