Orienteer race (Tamarack Green) 1:08:00 [3] 5.7 mi (11:56 / mi)
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas-L
Everything was fine and dandy other than losing almost 5 minutes on 7; lots of it due to (in my opinion) a map that is a little vegetatively outdated.... but who knows, I was probably being stubborn in an orienteering sort of way.
Also had a nice fall when spikes got caught on the wooden bridge.... it was the kind of fall where you're glad no one is watching, then sad that no one saw how great the fall was. Full out flat plop then sliding into home plate; great bruised knees and elbow. Thought about the fact that I probably couldn't get up, then got up and was fine in 60 seconds. Bad, but apparently not bad at all.
The weather was great; i think the course was quite good given the limitations of the park It might be interesting to have an advanced course option without trails (Red, Green, Green or red w/o trails, Brown... etc ) to give a little harder option for practice. It wouldn't take any extra course setting, just some more maps.
Also walked part of the Brown course with new orienteer who was having some issues... but we were both ready to quit after the first half. Not logged.
