Woke Up on Friday with the Start of a Runny Nose..... Not a good Sign, Bommed a whole heap of Vitamin C to hold it off
Got to Busso and did a little Recon Ride of the Course to see what I was going to be in for. Nice and Flat should have meant for fast times? Checked my P2C in at Transition (The First time that it had spent the Night Outside) and to be told that they only had large and Extra Large Busso Shirts left that was only 1 hour after Check in had opened? So I have a Tent for 2 never to be worn!
Saturday Morning got to the Race in plenty of time with Liz and had a couple of Bananas, Watched our Swimmer Kylie start, walked back to the Team Transition Area to wait for Kylie we found each other fairly easily and made the Timing chip Swap and I was Off.
Got Comfortable on the P2C and started to Crank, Passed quite a lot of riders as if they were standing still but then the Pro?s Passed Me like I was standing Still?.. Which was ok! We also had to Avoid and not get Pinged for Drafting as the Course Stewards were everywhere checking Everyone I was held up whilst one of the Stewards was explaining the Rule of Drafting to a Rider and the Stewards Rider Wouldn?t get out of the way to let me past?. Not Happy!
Looking at my Splits I did my First Lap the Quickest and then the second lap 2 seconds slower than that but the 3rd lap got me as I Started to Fatigue on the Last half of the lap and I lost a couple of Mins due to the Fatigue?
All in all I was a little disappointed in the Time but I didn?t have anything to compare it too.
Recovered well with Little to no soreness, Celebrated with a Few Drinks at the House and then at the Espy In Busselton that ended up getting Jam-Packed by 2.00am when It closed and we Left?
Great Event, Well organised and I?ll definitely be doing the whole thing as an Individual Next Year?.
