Feeling a bit Sunday morning plus the hard rain driven on a sharp north easterly wasn't making me too enthusiastic about getting out of the house, .
Perked up at about 9 and got into gear, by the time I reached Flotterstone it was looking a bit brighter too.
Ran the Skyline circular. First three climbs on the tracks and then got into the terrain. Direct from West Kip to Hare Hill where a couple of blokes were searching for the wreckage of a Junkers 88 bomber from 1943. heading back into the wind was a bit chill in places though overall not bad. Made reasonable time but did get pretty hungry after Bells Hill and scoffed a packet of opal fruits, which though a good sweetie hit are a proper faff with the wrappers Walked the clims of Bells, Capelaw and Castle as I was getting pretty tired towards the end. Its a long while since I've had consistent long runs so I'm a bit off track with the flow of fuel and the stamina. (funny, we call it endurance these days). Came off Castle Law westward to ensure I got over 3 hours.
Another decent run under the belt.

Flotterstone. Another slow start but again warmed up and things got flowing. Sticking firmly in the terrain. Round the end of Turnhose and up, then off the south side and into the bottom, Carnthey and Scald Law.
Good level f effort though I didn't feel like I was pushing hard. Up Scald Law in the heather in 8 minutes seems ok.

barefoot 12:00 intensity: (9:00 @2) + (3:00 @3)

feeling tired before I set out, but it was a training type of legs tired not a body not playing tired.
started easy and once warmed up and into the terrain on the back of the crags then it started to flow nicely.
back of the crags, bog, dassies, across DV over whinny and down to Dunscapie loch, up onto Crow Hill, AS, direct descent then up the back of the crags again. barefoot on the playing fields.
happy.

On Saturday I was entered in the Teenager and really wanted to run.
Decided I wasn't going to drive down on my own and sorted out a lift, though it meant a 5:30 start.
As Friday night went on I felt more and more tired, which, even though I had a sense it was a bit psychosematic, was enough for me to can the idea of getting up early.
In the end I slept in until 10:15, quarter of an hour after the race start.
Very fed up to have missed the race but definitely the right choice.

On Sunday I raced Sam round the Crescent and my chest still feels wrong, my legs heavy.

I have no idea where to go from here.

If in doubt, knock one out.
I decided that there is no point sitting around wondering and worrying what is going on. Some days I can run, some days I can't so make the most of the days I can, and the sunshine.
Roamed the Seat; crags, bog, dassies, DV to Whinny hill and lots of wanderings around there, Dunscapie, back over Whinny and finally to the top of the Seat, down, up again over the crags and then a bit of barefoot on the playing fields. Lots of sheer descents.
Was trundling steadily along, not pushing but grinding on, tempo was on steepest climbs.
sticking in terrain throughout
Felt ok, able to keep pushing along. tiring by the end, definitely in need of sustenance and came close to bonking after 1:50.

A weekend in the Dales, staying at Chapel le Dale can mean only one thing. The 3 Peaks. Its a classic race that I've always thought I should run but whenever I've looked at it I've decided it looks bit like a trail race. Last weekend Mark was singing its praises. Walked it with Dieter as part of his training for the JNC, plus I haven't had a propper long run for 3 months so walking made for good time on my feet with gentle effort. running bits were easy jofgging down the hills apart from off Wernside which I ran off properly, leaving D to walk off.
A really good day, it started wintery with light snow showers on a stiff arctic breeze, these cleared and the afternoon was bright and sunny, though chill.
And the route, well its certainly a trail race, but there is something quite classic about it, probably that you get such a great view of the route that you are on, a real sense of covering the distance with the peaks standing across it. Amazing limestone terrain to be seen too. p5.5k
