Circuits 45:00 [4]
shoes: Asics Running

Circuits at uni. Lard was back!

I now think the session actually only lasts for 45 minutes and I've been putting it in as an hour all this time.....oops.

Event: Sol 1

Orienteering race 1:20:04 [5] *** 10.7 km (7:29 / km) +370m 6:23 / km
20c shoes: Integrators

SOL1 at Drumlanrig.

Legs feeling a bit weary after yesterday. And although there was loads of track running it was hard going as they were muddy. After the epic 2.5k leg across the whole map it was getting a bit boring due to easiness and slowness. And bramblefestness.

Scandalous that I didn't beat old timers Paddy and Roger on a runners course.

Running race 27:40 [5] 5.0 mi (5:32 / mi)
shoes: Asics Running

Cupar 5 mile race.

Cut things far too fine. I must remember to factor in people driving slowly goddamnit. Didn't really know where registration was which didn't really help either. Finally got there (well) after it had shut. But dashed up to the startline and the nice dude there sorted me with a spare number he happened to have in his car. At least there was no hanging around.

Started off fine but lateness meant I was on the side of the road with the big puddles. It also meant I didn't double knot my laces which came undone after a couple of minutes. Therefore lost touch with the lead group tying them back up. This meant that the out part of the out and back course was extra hard as I ended up battling on my own into the gale force wind we were experiencing rather than just tucking in. Got a mild stitch as a result just after the turn but it didn't slow me too much. Think, though, I might have been about 30 secs faster if I wasn't such a muppet.

Note
(rest day)

Oops another rest day. Horrid weather meant that Lard wimped out of our Trossachs trip. I was totally up for it too. Totally. No, I mean, I really was. Super keen. That was me. Raring to go. Psyched.

Note
(rest day)

Dodgy gut most of the day meant I started out for hills and then promptly turned round. Possible cause noshing on halfbaked egg sarnies.

Running (steady) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Running

fvo headlight run through BofA, up the river, thru the golf course, minewoods and a wee loop in hermitage.

Dixie (as is his wont) was setting a rolicking pace for an easy run and we soon left Lard with the lassies.

Feeling surprisingly strong after yesterday and this is obviously a result of actually training. My body may have finally accepted that it is going to be getting lots of abuse this year.

Running warm up/down 40:00 [2]
shoes: Innov8s

good warm up including strides.
can't really remember the warm down... may have been a bit tired...

Running intervals (Terrain Hills) 47:00 [5]
shoes: Innov8s

Bit of a first. Terrain hill intervals devised by Lard in Hermitage. 3 sections with the first 1 really steep and a complete killer and the next 2 getting progressively easier. Originally there was meant to be 5 sets but it was taking twice as long as Lard expected so we quickly cut it down to 3. Really muddy making the first 1 tricky due to a lack of traction. Quite long recovery due to waiting for the posse.

Proper orienteering training and interesting to see the things you can actually run up. I really enjoyed it (gunning through the trees) but I'm not sure anyone else did - some faces were a complete picture!
