Day 2 of Big 5 at Clarkson. Steep area with some challenging undergrowth. Was pretty happy with steady run through control 9. Climbs up to #1, #4 and #5 meant focusing on direction distance. Was pretty happy the the steep contouring to #'s 6-8. The stony ground areas near #3&4 were really useful.
Made a 4min mistake to #10, being too confident that I'd spot the re-entrant to the west. It became clear I'd missed it, so I went back towards the more prominent reentrant closer to the road. Probably a bit lucky to find it. Lost another 5mins to #12 by trying to go straight but not making use of the handrail of rootstock. Was too far south and had to relocate off the open area on the north side of the road. Really good into13 and 14 but then another 2min mistake to 15. Ran too confidently past the knoll and the L Green patch, but had my angle wrong and ran hard to the linear row of green to the south east. Took a while to figure out my error. Was surprised to be as close to the lead as I was.

Day 1 of Big 5. Moss & Maple. M55.
Interesting path network for first 6 controls. Took a bit of time to get into the map for #1. Steady to #2 but then messed up #3 by going round the south path and missing the open area. Ended up looping all the way round for a 1min mistake.Steady again to #5. Clean to #6. Was a bit disoriented leaving 6. After correcting, went quite straight to 7, using the path junction. Fairly clean through to 10 and then a quick stop at the waterpoint. Took the first path to the sw to 11, but left the big track too early going into the brashings. Correcting using the shape of the hill. Ended a bit high to 12, but was good to 13. Clean on the run in.
