6x5mins Vance and Illium Valley. Got to Threshold on last two. Found this difficult. Hammys and knees are particularly sore. Another amazeballs day weather wise.
NB. Div 2 Playoff Final was insane ending. Erndtebrück got relegated despite winning. Bit gutted about that. No footie for three months. What on earth am I going to do?

Easy down Keystone. Trash miles...but worth it for the scenery. San Miguel is raging at the moment.

LSD. Holy Hell that was bad. After two big evacuations, I called it a day. Don't know why, but something wasn't right. Penelope x2, Deep Creek.

Holycow proper Orienteering close to home. Found out on Thursday night Eric and Ginny (lovely people) from Sky Pilots in Ouray were putting out flags at San Juan Overlook today. Kendal and me went over and really enjoyed it. Ran the Brown which ran like a Green Medium. 10 controls and only hit #10 clean. I was always 20m too high or too low but always near the circle to see them. #9 I went to the wrong tree first.
Went over the map with Kendal afterwards and we both agreed the gullies/re-entrants are confusing. We felt the gully symbol could have been used on some instances. But beggars can't be choosers and this was fantastic.
NB. Hammys are pinging in the terrain and the back is still stiff.

Out looking for the Wanderkid on Orange. She blasted the first few, then the elevation caught up with her.
Food at Eatery 66 in Ridgway after.
NB. Caught my ankle on barb wire yesterday, so that's a niggle. (Spent 40 mins in the Med Centre yesterday to get a tetanus, only to find out I got one in 2022. I'm losing it.)

15 mins Threshold on Iron Mtn Spur. I think this is a PB for this route and it wasn't close to trying. 43:30.
Weather at the moment is fantastic.

Terrain run. Supposed to be Fartlek, but the south side of the Valley Floor trails were flowing torrents. Headed up the escarpment and immediately hit fight and deadfall. Eventually hit the old MTB trail and carried on to Lawson Hill and to Society Turn.
NB. Been contemplating bailing on NAOC, but I think I'm too committed. Running makes these little things fester. Need to look at the positives. Which there are plenty. (Except for the price of fuel in Truckee....That's like biting an onion.)
Note
Looked at the NAOC entry list today. Ultimately thought.....what's the point. Looks like summers are better spent in Europe. I don't see why half the age group runs up unless you're running 21E. We must be terrible competition? If the distance is too short, whine and get it made longer? I get running up at any other time. But to run up in what surely is the Blue Ribbon event seems very poor.
I'm also completely shocked at the lack of U16 down participation. I get that JROTC have some influence in the sport here (One of my kids thought that really bonkers, without my influence).
Somehow I got really excited for this event. Probably because of the pandemic. Confirmed my reasoning to make IPR my target race.
ABSOLUTE PANTS.
NB. I'm going to look at this post until July and think WTF. It's really grated on me that I've entered this and not the Scottish 6 Days.

Easy Vance from Bilk Creek. No drugs required, just a very stiff back and unbelievably tight hammys.

I do my S & C to coincide with mid-week Premier League games. After reading Greg's log it made me chuckle as to what happened this afternoon. I have UK cable and halftime was pitch side at Old Trafford. 72,000 people reminded the world that Jamie Rednapp's a Wanker and a Fat Bastard live on tele for a minute while he spoke. He couldn't stop crying laughing with his analysts and Dalgliesh's daughter (who got no abuse thankfully...They're both Liverpool). Not the same, as Greg's abuse, which we've all had and never cool. But still humorous.
Note
(injured) (rest day)
Did something to my back pulling my pants on this morning. Agony.
Getting old is pants.
NB. After finding some three year old Tramadol from my knee op and popping one, I settled into some Mountain Select paperwork and booked flights to NAOC. Back has somewhat calmed down so I can do tonight's U15's.
