Spent last night at Rock Creek SP in Kellogg, IA - $14. Rolled in just after the dim, so didn't see much of the park. But they had showers - first in six days, much appreciated. And out again at first light headed for Chicago.

Headed downtown to take Anna to the Field Museum. Spent about 6 hours in the museum, saw maybe 1/3 of the non-premium exhibits - half of those in depth, half in cursory cruise mode due to crowded galleries, or youth groups. Spent more time in the galleries where we could wander more slowly. Very nice place.

Then walked around the museum campus area, then downtown to find some dinner and back to the museum campus area, down to the waterfront and then back to the parking garage under soldiers field where we had left the beast. Then a fairly painless escape from the city headed east. Headed toward Indiana Dunes to see about camping availability and get a short walk in near the beach.

Indiana Dunes.. Dianas Loop trail - up into the forested dunes, probably 70% boardwalked trail with a surprising amount of climb. Dropped us out on the beach which was still quite crowded even near sunset.
