Chipping Sodbury Parkrun

This was the very first parkrun here so felt obliged to come and support it. Really enjoyed it, it was 3 laps, very flat with a slight undulation at the end of each lap. Nearly overshot the Finish at the end. Garmin was playing up so I couldn't get an accurate distance reading but pleased with my time. It was nice to have coffee and biscuits in the sun afterwards..not to mention jellybeans at the end of the run. 2nd W50

British Nights W50L

Despite being very slow and making 2 massive errors, I quite enjoyed running a linear course at night. Messed up #2 as I hadn't gone far enough, should have taken the safe option and used the path. Messed up #15 because my brain had a complete shut down! Still don't quite know what I did....can't get Garmin to download for some reason........

Training Map Punta Umbria West

As this was not SI and the last opportunity to train on sandunes, I decided to WALK round to see if I could 'get it'. Found my bearings were more accurate, remembering to look at something in the distance but still not always understanding the vegetation and the micro contours. Felt it was quite a useful exercise.

Training Map Cartaya Noroeste

This was SI and was meant to be from 10 til 1 but they started bringing in the controls about 11 : 30. I had only found 8 controls but wanted my splits so I ran to the Finish. The Finish unit was there but no Download. ..Took a while to get into the map. The paths were very well defined but had problems with the contours. The cactus was a good navigational aid.

Punta Umbria South Sprint Training

This was 'tapes only' so it was self timed. Quite fun and fast. Went out onto the beach a few times, running on the sand. Again it was quite simple and not technical but that is how I like it.......

Punta Umbria Longer Sprint

This was a training exercise with SI units. It was a mix of urban and sandunes and forested areas...used some of the areas from yesterday. Found it difficult to switch from urban to forest mode at times ie pondering whether fence was cross able and cutting across rough open to get to control just off path. Also my good eye beginning to play up...Help!

Long Distance Pinares de Punta Umbria

This was quite an enjoyable run round sand dunes area. Felt quite pleased at first that I was almost 'getting it'. Then I got lost to #5. Kept finding my next control but not realising (dummy! ). Also kept relocating on the wrong drinks station. Messed up #7 as I was on the wrong parallel path. Still good fun and NOT LAST
