Orienteering race 1:36:33 [3] **** 8.4 km (11:30 / km) +365m 9:27 / km
shoes: Puma narabota

Set out really slow on purpose, wanted to get into the groove and to a certain extent I did, that is to the 9th control. After that, I got tired and couldn't push myself that much.
So, #1 was super slow but at least I didn't make a big mistake as many other people have, I was just a bit right of it, enough to recognize my location and correct myself.
On #3 I was hesitant going into the control as the open area had a lot more cliffs and rocks that I expected, so got confused a little there.
Picked a bad route to #5, didn't see the small trail going down the hill on the left route choice, so I went right and up to the top, then dropped down through the green to the trail. Not enough practice with long legs, even though my bf is supposed to be very good at them, bad teacher I guess...
Didn't like #6, slow up the steep hill, more climbing to #7 and slow going to #8 as I read all that crap along the way instead of just running 'til I hit the big reentrant.
I knew I was tired by 9 b/c I was getting confused by very obvious features, ate my amino acid powder on the way to 10, and felt somewhat better after 11.
Still didn't pick a good route on this long leg to 12, if I decided to go left, I should have gone all the way up and around through the white forest to the control. Instead I was wasting time finding trails, then zig zagging on them forever and ever. Hit the control straight on though :), the rest was faster and done on auto pilot.

I'm starting to enjoy longer courses as my endurance is improving.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [2]

Orienteering race 47:55 [4] ****
shoes: Puma narabota

Middle distance at Boggs Mtn.
Cold + rainy weather did not make this course as enjoyable as it could have been. Was Ok for most of the race slipping a bit here and there, got cold towards the end; hands were solid, couldn't even fold my map. Overall though, I tried hard to keep my mind focused on navigating properly. Made a slight compass error going to #1, ended up left on the trail. Next few controls were slow and hesitant, trying to get used to the map and terrain since I didn't do the model yesterday. No mistakes for the rest of the course, just slow at times but confident :) Oh, minor wobble on last control as I know I always leave in the wrong direction,,

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1]
shoes: Puma narabota

warm-up with goats, cool-down with Corinne.

Orienteering race 18:05 [4] **
shoes: Puma narabota

Sprint: very fast park-like Oing that I was clearly not prepared for. Don't remember the last time I ran a sprint but all I wanted to do is run clean and at a decent pace (for me). Screwed up #3 as I took off without looking at my compass b/c I got distracted by goats. Will blame this mistake on them, even though I know I need to work on keeping my focus at all times. The rest of the course was Ok, needed to run fast and I couldn't really. Was cautious at the last control as I knew people were missing it badly.
