Huge boom on #2 where I overran (by at least 150-200m) on a completely uphill leg (~19 min for leg). Hit several right on, so I felt good about the compass/map techniques I've been working on. Also getting better with the pace count (despite #2) as it's becoming more second nature.

Only other major bobble was @ #7, a control surrounded by 3 trails on which I refused to use any trail until too late. Lack of concentration.

Funny, though my time/pace isn't much better than my very first meet at FC, I feel I'm making progress (trying to stay patient). Judging from the number of high times throughout the courses, I believe this was a tough map/set of courses.

Went out again to work on off-trail. Still felt strong at end. Conditioning is getting better.

5x100 mix of skip, knee raise (stride?). Time includes rest between. Almost falling by the 5th. I hated it...must need it.

1x1k (5:36), 2x2k (6:03, 6:13, 6:31, 5:37) Concentrated on running on the line (foot in front of foot) and immediately felt more efficient/comfortable. I run like a drunk sailor!

Basically a trail run/hike with some excursions into the cleaner woods. Worked on the ever-important map fold, reading while on the move, and general map-reading. E Weyman was helpful with some pointers last weekend. Also goofed around with form, trying to run with a higher knee lift.

My left ankle is swollen and sore. Given the hardware holding it together, I'm going to take heed. Really wanted a beach run, though.
