Note

2009 was a bit unusual O season for me. I did lot less orienteering than before, about half of the amount I did 2007. Instead I did forest runing without map. In adition I did lot less racing and race like orienteering than usually. Only about 20 races / race like orienteering runs.

What is remarkable is the fact I did only very little mistakes this season. And only very small ones. As far as I remember my biggest mistakes this season in day O was less then one minute. If somebody remembers a race (mar 1st ->) where I did bigger than one minute mistake just correct me. In night O I did two 2 min ones.

I think one reason is it was really easy to focus because I was eager to navigate/orienteer every time I did O. Maybe it's not bad idea to orienteer a lot during winter season but during race season do it lot less. But it likely works only if you are 35+ old fart and too old dog to learn new tricks and you just need to do what you can, nothing less, nothign more.

I was slightly sick and exceptionally slow. And twisted my ankle just before #13, lost focus and made 30 sec mistake there in addition. Jogged at safety mode to the finish from there. Not bad injury, but will not be able to run in couple of days. End of season 2009.
