Running warm up/down 40:00 [1]

Orienteering race 52:50 [4] 7.6 km (6:57 / km)

Jukola 4th leg. Our third leg runner got injured and was taken to hospital. Our 2nd team runner got injured too, they web were taken from forest straight to hospital with same ambulance ride! (they were joking in the ambulance: "our 3rd team runner must have hurt really bad - they even couldn't manage to pick him up to ambulance at all...")

So my motivation wasn't best possible, but I had good run and time is quite good (for me). Almost no mistakes. I expected to start around70th place, but got to forest around 250, came back 175-180.

Time from gps - my time will can not be found from resuts, perevious leg runner never finish punched so they dont know when I started. Details later.

Note

Yesterday I changed routegadget.net background colors a bit to make it match with certain t-shirts. here was a litlle misunderstaning in printing factory...

(rest day)

After several well made TV orientering events (Finnish Huippuliiga) yestesterday's sprint TV broadcast was dissapointmet.

It wasn't the same channel and same productuion group, I guess it need a bit training to get it done well. I hope they will do better in Jukola.

Too lazy to do any training today.

Running warm up/down 33:00 [2]

Running 7:00 [5]

2 x 1000 m (about) on sand road. splits 3:14, 3:17
Last high intensity training before Jukola.

Oct 11 2006, between halikko and 25manna, I ran these same 1 km loops 3 times, splits 3.17, 3.23, 3.21. So I guess things could be much worse.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [2]

Easy jogging in forest, I put some streamers for team DVOA, short 4.5 km course, then half of it backwards to see how they were doing. And they were doing just fine.

I hope the course I planned was a nice one, easy controls at first, then more technical and difficult - step by step. I also squeezed in some control locations with nice view over lake Pitkäjärvi.

Most of them got back from forest before I left, hopefully they didn't need to go back and search the last one... Anyway, weather for nice and course was fun. DVOA group was good excuse for me to do a little training. I am so lazy, I wouldn't have bothered to do anything, I would have been sitting home on sofa and watching TV.

RG now with gps tracks.

There was a O event going on at our meeting place 6 km from our training site. I wasn't aware of that event, it was not in any calendars. The event was "Rakentajarastit", O event for people working in construction business. I guess we possibly could have got maps and run one of their courses with emits and all. But nothing beats own, well planned training.

Note
(rest day)

My right calf, the one cramped yesterday, is still like a stone - only stretching today.

So I have now plenty of time to plan training for tomorrow's DVOA Jukola/Venla training I promised to set for them. I forgot to ask them, so what kind of course should it be? I guess they have strong and very skilled teams and they don't need much technical training, but they are not yet so used to run in these Scandinavian dense forest. So I'd plan a long, tough and long course for them with lots of climb, on a green corner of one of our less detailed maps. I hope I got this right.
