Orienteering race 1:42:00 10.0 km (10:12 / km) (injured)
Jukola, 2nd leg. Usual crappy Jukola run.
First half went OK, just some knee poin in the very beginning but it went away after couple of minutes. I guess I did not warm up well enough. Then got tired and hamstrings and calf began to cramp. My going wasnt strong but I was proceeding somehow untill to the 4th last I missed all tracks and walked/joggen in long grass with lots of debris and while climbing to the hill where control was I hit a rock with my knee, the same knee I have had problems with lately. Then lost focus and limbed arounf a while on that hilltop without spotting the control and apparently without much sense. I must have been very close to the control but never saw it, easy to miss the flag in a rock hole if you don't know exactly where you are. After some minutes I climbed down from the hill and climbed up again from other direction and spiked it. I lost several minutes there. Knee pain went away and I could jog fine to the exhange. I guess I had used all my luck and something like this must happen to make statistics reasonable. And it all happened in Jukola, as usual.
I went home stright after my run, took a shower and went to sleep. Next morhing I could not walk with my knee, I barely could stand with it.
Fine course and terrain, it just wasn't my day. Went out 130 and I was well below 100 before the mistake and exhanged about 130. I should have been about ten mintes faster with a average & normal run. Well, it happens.
I ran wihtout gps, unfortunately. I decided to tun with O top with long sleeves and I don't have gps pocket in that shirt.
Running race 9:58 [5] 3.0 km (3:19 / km) ahr:179 max:189
3000m time trial on track.
km splits:
3:16
6:37
9:58
Ok run, but first 300 meters of the last lap were too slow. I started sprinting only 100m before the finish and I had all too much strength and O2 left at finish line.
First sub 10 min 3k for a long time. I guess previous time was in a cooper test run at Saarjärvi about six years ago.
SG, day 1. Too many 20 sec mistakes. Legs felt slightly tired, yesterday wasn't as easy as it should have been. I also lost half minute for not running trough a OOB area as most other runners did. I always hate when that happens.
OK run. My plans was to start with 3:25 pace and let it settle. Just to start fast enough just in case I am having super fast day, so sub 17 would be possible. It was just an average day, but start pace was just fine for that too and it went fine and about as I planned. Sunshine, about +18C in shadow (but there was no shadow on track). Little wind, but not as bad as last week. In other words: excellent conditions.
3000m on track. I hoped to be able to maintain 80 sec lap pace, but it was too much for me today. Legs still a bit tired, but most likely it was just a feeling and did not effect my time. Slightly dissapinting, but I have run worse times and I am now sure I'll be able to break 10 min barrier later this summer.
First 200m was too slow, 42 secs, then some ~80 sec laps, frist half of third km was difficult and slow and last lap 79 secs.
