Triple Trail Challenge 2021 TTC

Ken joined, which was nice as another amigo got tied up at work.

Fun ride. I never got my back brakes bled, so I took it as an opportunity to be front brake only, which worked well other than three hills I needed to walk because they had so much loose gravel I couldn't slow down enough without locking the front, which is not a great idea.

I was frustrated to not be where I want be fitness-wise, even though I understand it is the result of my decisions.

Ken probably could have been an hour faster. He gained so much time on any climb that didn't have big steps.

Also, apparently the trick to long activity recording with a cellular apple watch is to bring its powered on companion phone. Must be the phone service that kills the battery especially in more remote areas.

Hard at work:

Trivia: Dirt doesn't stick to my old skateboarding scar.

I still need to find H-man some toddler size clear safety glasses, since he seems to not like wearing shades.

Work calendar was relatively open, so I tried to add in a few make up miles for the last two missed days.

I wish the facility I have to visit today was a smidge closer...I'm not sure that the 40 during work or so for a round trip are quite feasible. Even though it's a garage, I would have to be slightly presentable on arrival, with no showers, just a trash-filled parking lot, to get ready in.

I could get out a little longer if I could be reasonable at bedtime about how much sleep I need. I have a hard time thinking, "I need 60 miles to get as good as BNM!" but that means like 4 am and that does not end up happening. It'd be better if I could choose some restful but early time, wake up then with vigor, as in, maybe I could have done 3 hrs today with that strategy.

But decided some was better than none and did get 2 hr ez. Just about had Hines to myself.
