Note

Facebook likes now official doubled since the start of our campaign. We had about 340 prior, now above 680.

However, now that I look at participation, it's only up 10%, 60 versus 54 over last spring. 30% up total, but that's with an extra meet. But even 6 people at $5 covers the $30/week advertising, and maybe are some in the $10 range, so potentially 60.

Oddly, spring 2014 did well. Compared instead to fall 2014, this spring has been a quite large improvement, up from ~36 average ish.

All numbers are not scientific, since some meets pin punch white, etc. Also, there are a number of variables not factored in - my meet had potentially crap weather and was on some college graduation days, some meets are or are not on during U of M football, etc.

Great Crooked Lake course by the maestro of route choice. Even at sluggish post heat exhaustion type pace, I still had to be on my toes.

1. Checked a white point on the way! What was I thinking
2. Almost pushed myself left of the correct spur
3. To the trail junction, didn't see the faint trail, bearing
4. Very slow and cautious, didn't find runnable meadow so I went up and around
5. Was exit to left of gravel pit faster? To the right on my line was crazy slow. Stopped for a drink and Elena guided me to the control.
6. Need to qr - found an indistinct trail, may have bobbled around a bit.
7. An...um...intentional detour, then Elena again
8. Went around the depression via the road. Saw Shane.
9. Considered road north then due east, but I wasn't moving quickly so I went back the way I came. Then almost missed on swamp high - I had trouble settling into the scale - some things came up way fast, others took forever.
10. On line to the swamp, then said screw it and stayed on line through the marsh. Easy going at walking pace.
11. Oops, let guard down, ended up on horse trail, but maybe not too bad. Then a little sloppy on turn in, but checked up and saw it to my right as I headed north.
12. Here this one came up faster than I expected, but maybe I rounded off more of the swamp.
13. Stayed right (crossed bridge, trail to road). Slightly confused as to what I did, as I thought I picked off the small round swamp, but then came to the SW end of the small round swamp. Kind of messy, I wonder if left had better runnabilty. Shane again.
14 My single biggest error, behind Shane we both thought we turned in correctly, and climbed hills, but ended up on the really bit double bump hill. Easily corrected, just lost time and energy.
15. Along the ridge. Wish I was running fast. :(
F. Chugged in.

Interesting features - you could use erosion gully erosion gully between and have it be end to end rather than side by side.

Orienteering 13:35 intensity: (3 @0) + (5:46 @1) + (4:05 @2) + (2:39 @3) + (1:02 @4) 0.65 mi (20:54 / mi) +3m 20:36 / mi

Uncrossable swamp crossing shenanigans. Maybe I should not do this with an uncovered phone, but I live on the edge. I cannot deny my nature.
