Great long ride with w4j. Rail trail until it stopped being paved. Then it turned into good AR training along the "Atomic Cut" (we have nuclear power). It's our version of the hydro cut, except it is pancake flat and over grown. But occasionally the gravel is really soft and loose and hard to ride through, which add mental and bike skill training. Woo woo! Eventually, in a token acquiescence to w4j's PT, we called it and turned towards Proud Lake. Buno Road had some great hills.
When entering Kensington, we saw that many photographers with mega lenses were focused on the egret nest, and they had taken some fantastic close up shots of them returning with a fish for their kidlets.
Sometime it might be fun to start in Wixom and just do the crappy part of the power line trail as far as one can take it.
Then for AR extra credit, after w4j turned for home, I took 8 Mile instead of 9 Mile.
