Jeff and I went to run red. The idea was that we would each discuss and choose a route, and then run off on our own and compare notes once we arrived at the point.
We got off to a rough start. Original #1 looked more distinct on the map. I walked through it after 5:20, but it was a pretty shallow feature so I missed it, and I wandered around for 25 more minutes before deciding I am not hanging the flag there. Then we spend a good while looking for a more suitable spot. I'm not really thrilled with the revised #1 we chose, but it's tough @ Peach Mountain. You have 90° of usable direction at the start and finish, and a lot of trails.
I was able to get mostly right to the spots afterwards. Jeff and I did not gravitate to the same route choices, so I hope that means there is sufficient choice, at least on the first half. We bailed on the second because of the extra hour with #1. Also a few revisions to the back half based on the view in the terrain. And I staged some large dead branch for a flag hanger; that was fun.
Awesome day to be outside. I really liked the format, so we might do more of this, pick a spot, pick routes, meet up. It's a nice interval, and both people get to practice.
