Event: CROESO 2016

2 PM

Orienteering race 58:06 [5] **** 8.54 km (6:48 / km) +150m 6:15 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Croeso 1, Kenfig
resorted to the magnifier rather than glasses because of the rain but still couldn't pull enough information off the map, took some time getting to grips with terrain/map, the vegetation in particular, also persistently overestimated how far I had travelled, expecting the control site to appear sooner, odd; physically I was in good form, although I started to feel sick around the turn

#1 hesitant, then overshot [50]
#4 dithered over which paths to follow [20]
#7 started looking far too early [150]
#8 hesitant, thinking it would be closer [20]
#9 didn't need to climb the ridge [20]
#11 attacked to earlier, underestimated the size of the hill beyond [30]
#15 didn't climb directly enough [20]

10th (M45), 9mins behind Bill, same behind Clive on M50

the Edges (short)
well, that's a bit better, set off at a decent pace to test myself out, managed okay, not strong, fell over, grateful for the southerly breeze over the last couple of km, finished at sunset, it was 27.8° when I set out at half past eight

invested in some allergy medecines, we'll see what effect they have, could feel a touch of phlegm on the chest and throat while I ran
