Orienteering race 2:00:09 [5] 9.2 km (13:04 / km) +470m 10:24 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 190

Long Weekend, Transit Flat, Course 1
that was tough, so much debris on the ground opportunities to run were rare, very warm weather, glad I took some jelly snakes, made use of all three drinks controls, but ... a clean run

lost time on #8, but apart from falling over and walking a bit, everything went well there?

3rd, 14mins behind Karl, only 2mins after the 45minute mark

Orienteering race 49:02 [5] 6.33 km (7:45 / km) +20m 7:38 / km
shoes: Jalas FLX

Long Weekend, Jason's Task, Course 1
they call it the moonscape and I was like an alien out there, flat area with vague erosion gullies (marked as streams, proper gullies, and impassable cliff), couldn't read it ... more to follow after I've studied my GPS track

also, technically, did not start: they put the start box after the map boxes here and they didn't actually mention them

#1 used line of creek as handrail, but undergrowth had grown and kept running into unmarked stuff [90s]
#3 crossed 'stream' without noticing - more like a shallow erosion gully [20s]
#4 bad direction from AP, slow, until attacking from path [120s]
#5 bad direction out of control, hit path too far east, confused [20s]
#6 lost confidence and bailed out of bearing in wrong direction, couldn't relocate on gullies [7mins!]
#9 diverted around steep gully and dodgy undergrowth [60s+]
#F bad direction to finish [20s]

a little more care and caution might have seen me through to a half-decent result, but the terrain was fast and the course was short ...

6th (of 7), 10mins behind Karl :(

Core Conditioning 40:00 [1]
(sick)

KV's core conditioning: the whole set - 'cos I finally got hold of some yoga blocks

Thursday Mar 5, 2015 #

Note
(sick) (rest day)

slight temperature and swollen tonsils, not doing anything today

Orienteering race 21:22 [5] 4.09 km (5:13 / km) +65m 4:50 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 7

Twilight Series, Botanic Gardens
really good courses, made challenging by the scale (1:2000) - everything came at you fast or otherwise seemed too close - ran at a good pace throughout, but didn't keep it clean

Botanic (Part 1)
