Orienteering race 1:13:18 [4] *** 10.43 km (7:02 / km) +320m 6:06 / km
ahr:151 max:163 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

Midland Champs, Longshaw, M45
not a bad run, but very very slow, so far behind I think something must be wrong, average HR below 155 (but that may be due to the 2min time out, bit dehydrated before I started and overheated badly, working on the start from 9.15 didn't help, took a few controls to get focussed

#1 opted not to ascend the ridge so went round the back of the control, in retrospect this must have cost time [30]
#4 a little hesitant between the walls [20]
#8 paused to decide route (already fatigued!), hesitant in circle [30]
#9 thought my route was good, low around paths, but maybe with my lack of speed straighter would've served me better [.?.]
#10 disappointing error: the sight of many more boulders than marked encouraged me to bail out of my bearing and attack from the main cluster, GPS track shows I was bang on line and within 25m of flag when I did this [40]
#13 better to take high path and drop down, I took low and cut across the slope, hesitant when I saw unmarked gullies [20]
#20 decided to run up the stream, but there was a hedge between it and the narrow gully, which meant I didn't see the control from that side [20]

12th, 11mins behind Dave Peel, and 8 behind Paul Murgatroyd and his run was not much better than mine technically

Note
(rest day)

slow-roast pork belly with apple, ate too much, energy consumed in digestion

running 40:07 [3] 7.0 km (5:44 / km) +140m 5:13 / km
ahr:146 max:164 shoes: More Mile Cheviot 2

Oker Loop
easy trot around the Oker loop, very gentle first stretch and finish (never done it as slow!), this was meant to be a low-intensity run, the 'recovery run' from my training programme but average HR snuck above 145, I guess it was the climbs that did it

last run with the More Miles, won't miss them

5 x 1km, off 6--70secs: 3.48 3.55 3.54 4.01 3.52

better, apart from the fourth lap (though on the 2nd and 4th I reversed the loop and had to slow at one slippery corner)

running warm up/down 9:00 [2] 1.55 km (5:48 / km) +25m 5:22 / km

Core Conditioning 35:00 [2]

more Karen Voight: core conditioning, plus lower body stretches and hips, really get a sweat on during the abdominal work

running 1:26:18 [2] 13.13 km (6:34 / km) +190m 6:08 / km
ahr:127 max:157 shoes: Inov8 Trailroc 245

Farley Moor, Bottom Moor, Upper Lumsdale
nice gentle run on a variety of terrain, newly fallen tree held us up on the exit of the quarries and a decision to avoid the slog up Wirestone lane landed us in farm muck, Bottom Moor was surprisingly dry
