ahr:129 shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 7

warm up, but not too much 'cos the mercury was rising

Orienteering race 39:29 [5] 8.28 km (4:46 / km) +30m 4:41 / km
ahr:160 max:173 shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 7

EM Urban League, Newark
yep, good course, kept you thinking, very warm for 10:30 in the morning, checked my watch at one point and was surprised to see I'd only been out for half-an-hour

5) exited to closed gate, hadn't noticed when decided route earlier [20]
7) paused in alleyway as I couldn't see a way out [<10]
14) paused for traffic, then in circle was looking for a fence, saw one, and also some youths, but the control was actually at the back of a building (as the youths kindly pointed out) [10]

4th= (with Martin Ward), 90secs behind Liam Corner, 20 behind Chris McCartney

Stanton Moor Spirals
didn't get the spiral right this time out (without a map), first half (of the run) was harder work than the second, still struggling a bit with the cold (?)

ahr:157 max:169 (sick) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 7

Hill intervals: 7x40secs (approx) with 45secs jog downhill:

it wasn't as steep as I'd imagined, 1:10 on average, but at least I could work the same hill, I confess thought I'd done 8 when I finished, bit humid out there tonight

running warm up/down 20:55 [2] 3.75 km (5:35 / km) +45m 5:16 / km
ahr:145 (sick) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 7

easy run home

Kite Hanging/Collecting 50:00 [1] 4.17 km (11:59 / km) +60m 11:11 / km
ahr:110 max:158 (sick) shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

control hanging on Bottom Moor, feeling a bit better today but still not in good shape at all, this was really hard work and a longer loop than I thought

Kite Hanging/Collecting 16:19 [3] 2.17 km (7:31 / km) +15m 7:16 / km
ahr:130 max:159 (sick) shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

lost two of the map memory pieces so had to go straight out with replacements before they could start, a bit quicker this time, but still it didn't get any easier, did some more running as I retraced my steps to search for the missing pieces

running (terrain and trails) 1:03:33 [3] 10.26 km (6:12 / km) +305m 5:24 / km
ahr:143 max:161 (sick) shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Brierly Wood, Rough Piece Wood, Monk Wood
I've long wanted to investigate the woods either side of the A61 near Dronfield, a nearby mapping assignment gave me an excuse today, the first two were okay, a bit overgrown and overused by mountain bikes, Monk Wood was very nice though, mixed conifer and deciduous, with bluebells, nice to run on sloppy paths after all these town streets

as for me, first 20mins was tough, still under the shadow of the cold, kept going pretty well

Monday May 12, 2014 #

running 4:46 [2] 1.01 km (4:43 / km)
ahr:126 max:156 (sick) shoes: More Mile Cheviot 2

Starkholmes
took the Starkholmes Brownies on a navigation walk so missed the monday run (my niece's doing), might've missed it anyway because I'm still phlegmed up, but kitted up just in case, then my sister offered me cream cake ... afterwards ran down to where I'd parked the car
