Orienteering race 1:04:53 [4] 8.4 km (7:43 / km) +45m 7:31 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

EM League, Thoresby North, Brown
good pace today, but damn the map was unreliable and there was at least one control in the wrong place

3) the control should've been 30m from the path, but turned out to be less than 3m, unfortunately, I cut in early and didn't see it - either there was an extra major footpath or the control was in the wrong place [3mins]
9) found what was probably an unmarked knoll in a location which resembled the control site, but the contol was also in a plausible location [3mins]
10) might've been quicker to hammer back out to the track and also to take a straighter line following a wide ride [20]
14) went around, but straightish must've been quicker (flag was very visible from that direction) [30]
17) overshot by more than a 100m! running across a leaf-covered ride without noticing, just didn't spot the 'distinctive tree' over to my left [3mins]

2nd, 8mins (!) behind Jay-T

3 was voided, adjusted time 59:22

Whitworth Thread
had to haul myself out of bed for this one and didn't expect to improve on my previous best, but improve I did, in fact, I smashed it, perhaps if I'd checked my watch with 400m to go I'd have broken the twenty minute mark, wasn't really racing anyone either, particularly on the last two laps

pleased

another clear and sunny day, too good to resist getting out on the Edges, even after two and half hours tramping around mapping

good pace, pleased with how I handled the climbs today

went out with the map to check some things and explore, ended up effectively surveying one low-detail section on the run, a bit like orienteering, some very brief pauses, steady pace

Ashover Loop
standard 'monday night' route from Ashover up to the Fabrick then out to Redcar Hillside and around past the edge of Stubbing Court, where the mud starts to pull you down, felt good for the first forty odd minutes but really started to struggle until after the hour mark
