Orienteering race 1:04:27 [4] 11.29 km (5:43 / km) +145m 5:22 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

EM League, Kedleston Hall, Brown
not a bad course, given the quality of the area, still pretty much a foot race, so tried to the foot on the gas, one little mistake at 15:

11) lost intensity, but also went thigh deep in a stream [20]
15) didn't see the 'distinctive' tree immediately, did a short loop and there it was to the left of where I attacked (but map has it to the right by 10m) [30]
20) got tangled in undergrowth when there was a way around to the left [10]

seems I finished quite fast, but was slow across the park behind the hall

6th, 10mins behind Chris Millard and 2 behind Dai (damn)

Orienteering race 36:58 [4] 4.76 km (7:46 / km) +140m 6:46 / km

EM League, Bestwood (middle distance)
tricky, particular the small paths hidden by leaves, reasonable pace, but not quite back up to speed yet, puzzled by map occasionally

3) puzzled by re-entrant, ignored elephant track to relocate on path [30]
8) thought I'd stayed high, but crossed path and searched along western thicket [75]
10) missed a way through the bramble twice [20]
16) confused by direction of clearing and climbed up bank before noticing embankment below [20]
18) better route along valley [20]
23) stopped 10m from control, path marked not visible, kite low behind bracken [30]

too much time lost on a middle distance, but I doubt anyone had a clean run

4th, thrashed by RR (8mins)
