Orienteering race 1:16:17 [4] 9.26 km (8:14 / km) +240m 7:18 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

YHOA Superleague, Rishworth Moor
Short Brown, 8km

technically pretty good, but damn the rough moor terrain knocks the stuffing out of me, I was done by 9 (48mins)(around 6km) and walked for maybe half the remaining distance (plenty of climbs), I'd caught Matthew Fellbaum at 5, lost around 30secs through to 8 and then he was gone, from there I lost 5mins and I made no mistakes

5) hit it bang on ... except I thought it would be in the first gully and paused to look up and down the feature and re-check the map [20secs]
6) lost the indistinct path and took a detour downhill [20secs], but turns out the higher path and contouring through the bracken was better [60secs]
7) crossed the path and had to stumble back to it [10]
8) hesitation: didn't think the depression was as far down the hill as the behaviour of others suggested [15]
9) hesitation: expected the control in the first gully (where have we heard that one before)[15]
17) came over the hill slightly too low [10]

seems I was leading at 8, and lost 40 secs to Matthew on the next leg, so fading from 8 onwards

the JK is on moorland next year, got to be able to run for 10km on this stuff by then

shoes: More Mile Cheviot 2

Bottom Moor, Upper Moor, Big Bumper Piece, Whitesprings
nice steady run on mixed terrain - road, trails, rough wood, open heather - doing a tour of all my local O areas

pace slowed by an exercusion into the trees and along nasty ride in Upper Moor, not really worth mapping at the moment

Mapping 1:00:00 [1] 3.0 km (20:00 / km) +20m 19:21 / km

running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 1.8 km (8:20 / km) +20m 7:54 / km

ran around part of the perimeter before mapping, then another part after mapping

6 PM

running intervals 18:08 [4] 4.02 km (4:31 / km) +40m 4:18 / km
shoes: More Mile Cheviot 2

2 x 2km intervals, 2mins rest: 8.59 9.09

went off fast, faded a bit, but didn't expect to be so slow, this underlines the effect of the recent cold (which still hasn't entirely cleared)

not over the cold yet, but improving, so I risked the Monday night run, better pace than usual with only 6 of us out, hard work towards the end and had to dig in to stay with Paul and JD (I'd neglected to charge my lamp so I had to stay with them
