Orienteering 57:51 [4] 9.2 km (6:17 / km) +125m 5:53 / km
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 272

EMOA League, Walesby
this is a fast area so had to go for it from the start, couldn't keep it up, of course, but the fade came over half way round (35mins), a slight improvement, I think

tiny mistakes, e.g. running at the west side of a thicket because I misread the description, some marginally less optimal route choices

curiously, on the leg where I thought I'd really lost some time - because my route led to a flooded path which we'd been told wasn't going to be a problem - I had the third best split time: where did everyone else go?

10th, 12mins behind Richard Robinson, but also well behind Peter Helme in the race for third in the League

(Better performance this year compared with last, but not according to the rankings: 1120 versus 1102.)

Note

Just noticed my shoes - Saucony Peregrine - have a split sole from upper around the ball of the big toe, the fabric has worn smooth, on the right shoe the fabric has worn less, but the split is about to happen.

I've had them no more six months, maybe less, uses mostly on roads and trails, for 54 sessions, but they have encountered some bramble

disappointed

running 49:29 [3] 8.74 km (5:40 / km) +220m 5:02 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine

Farley Hill, Cuckoostone Lane, Matlock Bank
headed out for the run over the top through Bottom Moor and back past Farley, but could feel my chest a bit, still carrying a bit of a cold, so I cut the run short looping round through Cuckoostone Dale, reasonable route, with almost as much climb

want to stay healthy for the last two EM League events

6 PM

running warm up/down 8:47 [2] 1.58 km (5:34 / km) +40m 4:56 / km

steady run around Morledge trying to get my body going for some hill intervals

running intervals 21:17 [5] 3.6 km (5:55 / km) +135m 4:59 / km

hill intervals: 4 x 340m (30m climb) - 1.39 1.46 1.47 1.46
plus
a wee dash up the hill home: 125m (20m) - 0.35

it was touch and go whether I'd drag myself out for these, felt as if the cold was behind me this morning, but during the pm the phlegm returned, didn't feel great, but made a reasonable effort in the end
