Orienteering race 1:18:13 [4] 7.6 km (10:18 / km) +260m 8:47 / km
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 272

Greno Woods
faded badly in the last quarter, sloppy today as well:

2 - path junction attack point didn't seem to exist (it was a biker's track), passed within 20m of the control, attacked again off next track, but too low (maybe 2mins)
18 - short leg, thought I was straying left, hit a control in a depression, carried on, but didn't compensate, again passed through the circle, but didn't know whether I had overshot or needed to go on, relocated on track, but came in too low because the seat I found wasn't marked (yet there was one marked higher up the track), came out on the other side, found it that time (5mins), worst mistake since Craig'a'Barns

disappointing

Mapping 2:00:00 [1]

a walk around Farley Moor with the planner of the upcoming local event, checking the map, identifying areas for surveying

6 PM

Orienteering race (night) 1:26:41 [5] 8.9 km (9:44 / km) +110m 9:10 / km
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 272

Midland Night Champs, Gresley Wood
horrible, torn and wet by the time I reached the first control, had to crawl through a gap in a hedge and a marsh resembled a small pond, lots of controls hung low on thickets (thorn bushes), too often got to the circle but couldn't pick out the feature or the flag, as an early starter I was the guy leading people into the control, got trapped in a ditch lined with unmarked fight, not fun

course was a kilometre too long for a night event, but didn't run too badly

5th, 10mins behind Jason Howell

running 44:26 [3] 8.12 km (5:28 / km) +145m 5:01 / km
shoes: Saucony Peregrine

Chatsworth
weather forecast was good, sister was going to Chatsworth, went for run around the woods there, mostly on forest tracks, a few trails, nice area

cold has gone, I think, but sinuses still blocked, seems I'm breathing through my mouth more than usual, definitely below par, slow

Mapping 2:00:00 [1]

gotta get this survey done

some challenges on Lumsdale hillside: almost no contour detail, crags of varying height, too many to map, and a few areas of impassable bracken

running 29:46 [3] 5.38 km (5:32 / km) +50m 5:17 / km
(sick) shoes: Saucony Peregrine

Oker Loop (short)
had to get out there as not running was beginning to become a habit, though I'm still sniffling and coughing, and performance wasn't good, very slow, despite feeling quite good in the legs

Lumsdale
put on some wellies and waded up Bentley Brook to survey the valley from within, survived without injury
