Orienteering race 1:07:18 [5] 8.3 km (8:07 / km) +150m 7:26 / km
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 272

SYO Regional, Wombwell
thought this would be a quick area so started off quick, of course, I was going to suffer for that later, but this is the pace I've got to work towards, would have slowed more but raced Liam Harrington for 7 controls and Tim Street for 5 (okay, I wasn't exactly racing Tim, but he missed a control and had to pass me a second time)

most of my time lost was when I missed or refused a vague path and got held up in undergrowth (4 - 1min, at least) and at 14 I couldn't see a path junction and flailed through the long grass for 50m, but on the short 8th (30secs), my bearing was maybe 10-15° to the right and didn't see the flag as I passed, (pacing counting saved me)

fell over three or four times, giving my knee a good smashing on the first, always the left knee (why is that?)

9th, under 15mins behind Richard Robinson

walked across the Bank to survey the stretch of wood above the Hurst Farm Estate, also poked around lower on the Lumsdale hillside and the woods below the estate, and walked back

brisk walking, mind

Farley Hill, Ladygrove, Darley Bridge
been a while since I ventured into Ladygrove ... got in and out pretty fast today and for the first time lasted the distance (the first few times I attempted the route I failed for various feeble physical reasons)

White Edge
planned to run around the edges in the evening sunshine from Curbar Gap, but a) the cloud swallowed up the sun and spat out a bit of rain, and b) my sister went her own mistaken route up there and we came out at Longshaw, so I got dropped off at Sunday's car park and did a brisk one along White Edge

I say 'brisk' but I was expecting the run to be about 2km longer and could've kept up that pace for that and more
