Orienteering race 44:03 [5] ** 7.59 km (5:48 / km) +75m 5:32 / km
spiked:22/24c shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 272

EMOA League Event, WalesbyForest
very short Brown course on a fast, runnable area, lost maybe 30secs in total, shouldn't have lost any really, but folded the map too close to the next control (12) and headed down the slope early, suspected that's what I was doing, but had to stop and make sure, then was cautious attacking 16 (if that's not an oxymoron)

8th: over 10mins behind Richard Robinson, but less than 5 behind Peter Hodkinson ...

studying the splits, looks like I lost slightly over a minute off the perfect run (a couple of less quick route choices)

running warm up/down 5:44 [2] 0.54 km (10:37 / km) +50m 7:15 / km

Stanton Moor
didn't get out of second gear trying to follow the little paths uphill through boulder fields: let's call it a warm up ...

running (trail) 1:12:17 [4] 12.77 km (5:40 / km) +180m 5:17 / km

Stanton Moor, Clough Wood, Cambridge Wood, Oker
got out to Stanton again, thanks to my sister, and this time I had my Garmin, but I started in the quarries, which was a mistake (see above), out on the top light snow was falling and it was cold, so running wasn't quite as joyful as last time, but the sun came out on the way back and I avoided the worst of the cow-churn

Ran a wee bit further, not including the 'warm up' which makes it the longest training run so far

running (inc. hill session) 33:00 [3] 7.5 km (4:24 / km) +120m 4:04 / km

Matlock O-Club, Hall Leys Park/Pic Tor
not sure how to represent this training: jogged the long way down to the park for a little 'treasure hunt' event, but got asked to hang the furthest control and by the time I got back from the top of Pic Tor, the race had begun, so after a few minutes rest (4-5), I ran back up Pic Tor, racing a guy who'd taken the other route, pleased I was able to keep it going on both climbs, then I did a bit of shadowing, followed by an easy run back

quite dehydrated afterwards ... or was the migraine caused by a bit of inflammation in the sinuses?

Note

Is this the lurgy creeping up on me?

Update: not quite.

running (trail) 1:11:00 [4] 12.7 km (5:35 / km) +150m 5:17 / km
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 272

Stanton Moor, Clough Wood, Cambridge Wood, Oker
Worked out a way to get back from Stanton Moor with minimal road running, so got a lift up there and pottered around at a steady pace.

I love Stanton Moor, heather, birch trees, nice soft paths, virtually no mud, but between Stanton and the next wood several boggy, masticated cattle fields lay in wait, all mud - yuck!

steady run (apart from the mud) but forgot the Garmin so don't know exactly how far I went - pretty sure it was the longest I've managed - I'll have to do that route again
