Orienteering race 19:06 [4] *** 2.8 km (6:49 / km) +20m 6:35 / km
spiked:14/17c

Macclesfield Town & Country: Prologue
blew it on the 2nd control, but not the way many people did, didn't get to grips with the map quick enough, chose the wrong route, ran past the turning, a couple of other misses, one because the dibber/flag was accessible from outside the fence, when I had - correcty - run around

didn't run fast enough, but it was only the prologue ...

12 PM

Orienteering race 26:48 [5] *** 4.0 km (6:42 / km) +55m 6:16 / km
spiked:20/21c

Macclesfield Town & Country: Final
not a bad run at all, hesitant on 1, partly due to the slippery paths downhill, not too slow back up the hill, picked the wrong route on the big leg - didn't look closely enough at the ways through the park, went right instead, kept it going well ...

... until I cut through a gap in the green surrounding the last control and got sent back by a woman standing at the finish, only to watch half-a-dozen other competitors ignore her (excepting for her son)

that's gonna cost me some 'precious' ranking points ;)

Orienteering race 54:27 [5] *** 4.9 km (11:07 / km) +240m 8:56 / km
spiked:18/19c

MDOC Town & Country Weekend: Macclesfield North
my first middle distance race and it was just like a classic only without time for much pure running, and with the inclines, there wasn't time for any running on too many occasions

good to have rigorous navigational challenge, spiked all but one control, which was 20m up the spur from where it should've been, could have made better route choices in some instances

finished 14mins behind Ian Embrey (who's 42nd in the rankings), will that performance get me back into the 1100's?

Hall Leys Park / Pic Tor
ran the 'challenge sprint' course I've planned for next wednesday, to check control sites and the actual length, felt very 'breathy' again, the allergy has not gone, must be something else

(the actual length is 70% longer than the course distance - Hee, hee!)

running 40:55 [3] 6.95 km (5:53 / km) +100m 5:30 / km

Ocker Tree Loop (short)
lovely evening, legs felt good, but breathing ... not so good, slowed to a walk going up the hill at Ocker, again

much faster time than the first attempt at this loop

Orienteering race 51:00 [4] 4.5 km (11:20 / km) +270m 8:43 / km

Army Harris Score Event
Didn't enjoy this much. The format - team score - was too chaotic, for my taste and the terrain was tough. Hilly, heather, and steep gulleys, hardly got going at all.
