worse than last time, started steady, Alistair caught 4mins on me by #5, reduced to walking up hill after 25mins, lungs couldn't handle it and the heat didn't help, also contact lens came loose before the start so wasn't seeing the map as well as I should have been

14mins behind AL, and 10 behind JD (which is an impressive performance from him)

had a look at my AP entry on Stapeley back in 2015, says I was knackered after 40mins, walking on the hills, should be interesting on Sunday then, given current form, not mentioned in the log but I also recall vague rock detail causing some hesitation

hill intervals at High Tor, steady there and halfway up hill (about 3km) then 4 x 45-50sec efforts with about 2mins jog/rest, that was about all I could do, then easy over the top and back along the river

got blindsided by a startled deer on side of the A6, headbutted me, knocked me to the ground, and ran off, didn't take any valuables, but I may have a black eye tomorrow
