Orienteering race 41:24 [5] 5.77 km (7:11 / km) +190m 6:10 / km
shoes: Inov8 Arctic Talon 275

JK Middle, Brereton Spurs
felt empty leaving the start lane, must do something about that, it happens at big races usually starting late, so tomorrow jelly babes shortly before call up, navigation a bit scrappy, lost one minute at #17 failing yet again to see my bearing thru, diverted to anothr control a hide as a result missed left and charged towards another control ... on a hide, the difference between a really good result and merely a good one

9th, 4mins behind James and Charlie

JK Middle

shoes: Inov8 X-Claw 275

JK Sprint, MOD Stafford
very easy and a bit on the short side, good pace, could've upped it earlier, only one error leaving #5 in the direction of #7 (<10s), nice to be in the thick of it (again)

7th, 45secs behind JL, 25 off third place

shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

Chatsworth Estate
mapping on the run, from Hell Bank into the south end of the lower wood, good and bad news, rhoddies diminished on southern end of slope but old map rather - ahem - 'generalised' in that area, e.g. prominent ruined wall (in runnable wood) omitted

Monday Mar 26, 2018 #

running 1:47:24 [2] 13.78 km (7:48 / km) +290m 7:03 / km

very easy this one, apart from a good effort out of the valley, but picturesque

steady terrain run to check out the rest of Harland Edge, off the Chatsworth map, combined with Fallinge Edge to the south this would be a really nice middle distance area - no paths!

running 18:16 [3] 4.0 km (4:34 / km) +60m 4:15 / km

running intervals 23:00 [5] 2.71 km (8:29 / km) +140m 6:45 / km
shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

hill intervals, counting 90 double spaces, between 120 and 160m with climb varying from 20 - 30m, ran out of hill so the sixth was only 40seccs, then stuck in another by going up to the War Memorial on the way back

running warm up/down 13:27 [2] 2.57 km (5:14 / km) +20m 5:02 / km

Stanton Spirals
couldn't resist a snowy Stanton Moor in (some) sunshine, found some virgin snow in the woods, kind of relieved yesterday's event was postponed, I'd only got four hours sleep and felt pretty blah for the rest of the day

shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

4 x 125m (30m), with 2mins rest: 0.53 0.53 0.54 0.51

a stiffer climb than recent hill intervals, double up at the end of each one, attempted another going further toward the summit but packed it in after 30secs

Mapping 2:49:00 [0] 8.08 km (20:55 / km) +50m 20:17 / km

around the lakes in Chatsworth, they 'disappeared' the rhoddies a few years ago, it seems, and now they're just beginning to grow back, lots of vehicle tracks

6 PM

Core Conditioning 15:00 [0]

KV's core-conditioning, hip stretches, and glute activation: hips and glutes were tight, hence the slightly sore back

easy pace with Chrism muddy out of Youlgreave, then flooded paths down the Lath, fun, until we got shin deep for a hundred metres, back started to get sore half-an-hour after

bit messy, overshot #1 because junction was indistinct, attacked to early on #4 (really careless), bit hestitant in the circle, but pushed quite hard on what was quite a physical middle distance course

2nd, 2mins behind James Logue (who was taking it steady)

CS Cup Canklow

Tuesday Mar 6, 2018 #

6 PM

Core Conditioning 10:00 [0]

Chris suggested we reverse our usual route which loaded all the climb into the first 2km, handled that quite well, easy from then on, fell and banged knees early on, they're complaining a bit now

shoes: Inov8 Arctic Talon 275

jog back up the hill from the cycle path

shoes: Inov8 Arctic Talon 275

Farley Hill, Farley Moor
favouring snowy paths over snowy pavements I ventured up to Farley Moor, good work out getting all the way up there, snow wasn't deep except out on the open and where it had drifted, very slow
