6 PM

running 1:30:52 [2] 13.05 km (6:58 / km) +260m 6:20 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Stanton Spirals
took the boys around the spirals, very nice, snow on the ground and clear skies, don't think I've seen it as wet up there so God knows what it must have been like elsewhere

Sunday Feb 26, 2017 #

12 PM

Orienteering race 1:35:47 [5] 10.34 km (9:16 / km) +280m 8:10 / km
ahr:149 max:151 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

Northern Champs, Bigland
some sub-optimal routes (maybe), but slow, really feeling yesterday in the legs

13th, 19mins behind Birkinshaw

Saturday Feb 25, 2017 #

8 PM

Orienteering race 1:32:54 [5] 8.17 km (11:22 / km) +260m 9:49 / km
ahr:151 max:168 shoes: Inov8 Arctic Talon 275

BNOC Great Tower
actually enjoyed this, even though I had completely balls it up by the third control, fog near the start made it very interesting, gave up on the glasses and I clearly didn't get enough info from the map as I hadn't noticed the stream before #3, was fighting my brand new compass all the way, kept pulling right like a car with its tracking off, the magnifier was excellent though

12th, 32mins behind Logue!

Thursday Feb 23, 2017 #

7 PM

running 22:50 [3] 5.0 km (4:34 / km) +10m 4:31 / km
ahr:157 max:172 shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

Cycle Path 5km
took the Great Tower map, my glasses, and my headlamp to get a bit of practice, rain stopped so I was able to read it okay, quite quick considering

TE: 3.6 (interesting - this is notably lower than it was for slower times and similar HR readings in January)

Sunday Feb 19, 2017 #

8 AM

running 1:13:00 [3] 14.46 km (5:03 / km) +100m 4:53 / km
ahr:141 max:151

West Dulwich, Dulwich Park, Brockwell Park
nice and steady, very even pace, lovely morning, not much traffic, though I did have to wait crossing the South Circular both times

TE: 4.6

Friday Feb 17, 2017 #

2 PM

running 35:02 [3] 6.79 km (5:10 / km) +110m 4:46 / km
ahr:137 max:156 shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

Norwood Grove Noodles
too nice not to get out, similar to yesterday, but shorter and more in 'terrain'

TE: 3.7

Thursday Feb 16, 2017 #

12 PM

running 1:03:32 [3] 12.01 km (5:17 / km) +210m 4:52 / km
ahr:135 max:160 shoes: Mizuno Wave Hitogami 2

Streatham Common, Biggin Wood, Norbury, Norwood Grove
route blocked after Biggin so reversed direction, slow and steady

TE: 3.4 (more appropriate)

Monday Feb 13, 2017 #

12 PM

running 1:32:28 [3] 15.78 km (5:52 / km) +210m 5:30 / km
ahr:147 max:173 shoes: Inov8 Arctic Talon 275

Big Moor Loop (short)
had planned to do the 20km loop but the going was tough - very wet paths, trods were streams, snow on the top of Totley Moss (glad I wore my new Arctic Talons) - so went straight from Totley to Longshaw, pretty steady but not as brisk as last time out, not surprising on a Monday after a race

(training effect: 4.7)

Sunday Feb 12, 2017 #

11 AM

Orienteering race 1:07:14 [5] 10.4 km (6:28 / km) +140m 6:03 / km
ahr:151 max:165 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

EM League, Harlow Woods, Brown
cold, light snow, muddly paths, bramble - what's not to love? Navigating to #12 instead of #2m, at least it was on the way, but spent a very confused minute convinced I was in the right place (which I was), pretty clean after that, although optimal route to #3 was down the wide spur picking up one of the baby elephant tracks, reasonably good pace

3rd, same 1-2-3 as last week but 10mins down on Jay-T

Saturday Feb 11, 2017 #

5 PM

running 22:17 [3] 5.0 km (4:27 / km) +10m 4:25 / km
shoes: Mizuno Wave Hitogami 2

Cycle Path 5km
a cheeky 5k to keep the mileage ticking over

HRM didn't record

Friday Feb 10, 2017 #

1 PM

running (terrain and trails) 40:36 [3] 7.05 km (5:46 / km) +80m 5:27 / km
ahr:149 max:169 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

Harewood Moor
back to my terrain loop, not as boggy as I had feared, much better than most of my previous attempts, good even pace up through the heather, encouraging, sun came out for most of the run too

training effect: 4.5

Thursday Feb 9, 2017 #

12 PM

running 45:03 [3] 8.0 km (5:38 / km) +120m 5:14 / km
shoes: Inov8 Arctic Talon 275

Stanton Spirals
slow but not laboured, cut out the last loop because the battery was low, new shoes an excellent fit

(training effect 4.2)

Wednesday Feb 8, 2017 #

6 PM

running 1:07:25 [3] 12.6 km (5:21 / km) +240m 4:53 / km
shoes: Inov8 Race Ultra 290

Tansley Moor Loop
nice and steady

GPS file corrupted so no HR data

Tuesday Feb 7, 2017 #

6 PM

Core Conditioning 20:00 [0]

KV's core-conditioning, hip and lower body stretches

Monday Feb 6, 2017 #

6 PM

running 1:26:25 [3] 13.3 km (6:30 / km) +270m 5:54 / km
ahr:151 max:175 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Bradford Dale, Lathkill Dale, Youlgreave
foul night, cold and damp, snow for the last half-hour though we were sheltered in the dale, last time we did this route was September, I think, after my broken toe, struggled up the hill out of Lathkill (i.e. walked), tonight I kept it going all the way to the gate

training effect: 3.7 (that's more like it)

Sunday Feb 5, 2017 #

11 AM

Orienteering race 1:16:52 [5] 12.88 km (5:58 / km) +30m 5:54 / km
ahr:154 max:166 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

EM League, Stapleford Woods, Brown
long one, which was good for training purposes, felt a bit leggy after 25mins, but had someone (Karl Marshall) with me to keep it going, the course took us to many of the better bits, quite pleasant

3rd, 6.5mins behind Jay-T

Saturday Feb 4, 2017 #

5 PM

Orienteering race 42:21 [4] 5.97 km (7:06 / km) +80m 6:39 / km
ahr:151 max:166 shoes: Jalas FLX

YHOA Night League, Bowden Housteads
could be my only night O before the champs, treated it as training, struggled to get going, hesitant at path junctions, difficult to pick out the paths drawn in ISSOM, started to race Dominic Dakin and that's where I messed up, took my own route, but didn't fully commit and changed my mind

Thursday Feb 2, 2017 #

4 PM

running 1:10:26 [3] 12.66 km (5:34 / km) +190m 5:11 / km
ahr:148 max:160 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 190

Stanton Spirals
nice and steady around a sloppy Stanton Moor in the daylight and dark, started slow, but settled in

(training effect: 5, over-reach)
