Finally well enough to go for an extended walk around the suburb

Set out for an early morning ride with Lost_richard and Ken Post. The aim was to meet Richard south of Scarborough. Moderate East to south easterly winds to slow us down. Reached Scarborough with Ken in the lead. Rather than stay on the bike path Ken suggests a deviation through the maze of a carpark and this leads to the inevital dead end. No way out except for a bunny hop onto the footpath or so I thought. Somehow getting the hop all wrong I plant my head face first into the footpath. Unfortunately the nose took the full force of the impact and the helmet was scratch free. The scene looked more like the result of the usual Saturday night brawl with two big pools of cherry red blood over the pavement. The x-rays are so conclusive that that an amatuer can see where the break is. However I will have wait until Wednesday (after the swelling goes down) to get the nose straightened. In the interim looking more like the elephant man sure attracts peoples attention.

A loop on and near the bike path to pick up bike counters. Most disapointing to only see three.

Head for the hills down the Reed Hwy. Riding on the flat is just not doing for me at the moment. First major hill up Toodyay road -push it keep out of bottom gear - half way up, crap I am in bottom gear. Smashed by the top at Red Hill. A story to be repeated for each subsequent climb and there were a few. The chosen route is very scenic up O'Brians road and back via Reserve road, however each climb seemed to be tough, not helped by the hot and dry conditions. Some realy good decents but as I am not familiar with the road some braking required on some of the corners took the edge off the fun and decreased the momentum for the up side. Finished both water bottles by Gidgeganup.

A reward of coffee and cake at the bakery and back down the hill at a significantly faster pace. Water bottles were replentished but were quickly used befor the finish. Not much left to get me home and the sea breeze slowed down the usual fast decent from Mirrabooka.
