Orienteering race 1:09:43 [3] *** 7.9 km (8:49 / km)
spiked:17/24c

The wine-o of the GLOF, performed as a one-man relay. I boomed myself out of the game on the first loop. I was simply running too fast. As I was alone on the seond loop I probably made some good advance. On the final loop I got distracted by the other runners again, and llost some unnecessary time and places. I should just have sticked to doing my own race but...

The race was great fun, the terrain was nice and I'm actually happy not to have understood today was a holiday. I was really suprised to see that I could, for the brief moment, keep up with the best runners while in the forest. I shouldn't be a particularly good runner in terrain and - in fact - I'm not.

I avarded myself with a nice hot bath and a seldom so well deserved glass of cold and excellent wine. Fantastic!

Orienteering 1:16:10 [3] *** 8.4 km (9:04 / km)
spiked:12/14c

Now, putting yesterday's disaster behind me I managed today to do what I should. Almost. I lost several minutes on the small paths in the end. overall ok, though.

Orienteering race 47:00 [3] *** 3.9 km (12:03 / km)
spiked:9/13c

NAOC Middle distance - my first touch with overseas orienteering. I totally blew it on the second control... Otherwise I made a decednt run given the circumstances. I guess this was the wrong day to try without a compass. The terrain was difficult with not too many details and reduced visibility. It would have been good to have visited the training area.

All in all the competition was a positive experience with the nice settings, winderful competiton area and all the happy people.

Running (road) 1:00:00 [3]

Another run in the dark around the sights. More fellow runers than policemen, though.

Running (road) 1:00:00 [3]

I found a good site, made by some Nadim Ahmed, recommending running loops in Washington DC. Did an extended Georgetown loop before heading down to the Bank.
